New Beginnings Through Flames

The Mali’ker city of Vivec had enjoyed quite an era of peace since coming to the lands of Vailor. Guided by the hands of certain dedicated figures utilizing the memory of the legendary ancestors, the nation went on to prosper in its own respect by providing a place that the once homeless race could settle in with their own kin. However, often times prosperity and comfort leads to atrophy and complacency. Having accomplishing its primary goals of providence, one by one the leaders of the Mali’ker left; Leaving only Dak’ir Des’nox until he too had felt his time come and departed in a righteously earned retirement.

It was around this time the ground began to tremor. At first, it was but slight vibrations seldom even realized by the everyday citizen of Ker’nor until this very day that the grand mountain Kehl’igne belches fire with a most furious fervor. It was said that something became angered by the state of those who called the base of the volcano home and had finally awoken to act on this perceived emotion with the loss of those who had brought prosperity to the Mali’ker. However, others have said it was the normalcy of bad fortune that accompanies the Mali’ker wherever they try to forge a land of their own coming to fruition after so many years of peace.

Regardless of its causes, the city of Vivec doesn't stand much chance of survival in the face of such an unmerciful and unstoppable force; The Mali’ker will have no choice but to abandon their homes once more or face a torrent of scorching waves as the essence of pure wrath bubbles through the streets.

*Arzota Des’nox the current reigning Anniler’ir descends from the ashy stone steps leading down from the towering keep that presides over the city of Vivec. Grimwald DeNurem awaits him below in the clearing just past the front gates. Grimwalds gives his Anniler’ir a respectful and low bow as the two reach acceptable range for conversation. The city streets has been quite empty of late with no so much as the rumbles from the volcano nearby to break the silence in the air. Arzota returns the bow before speaking . . .

“Kerin’ayla Grimwald, it is good to see you.”

“Likewise Anniler’ir, though I wish there were more to greet you on this day.”

*Arozota would return a solemn expression as his gaze would drift slowly from Grimwald to the ash colored clouds above them. Flakes of once molten rock floats down around them almost whimsically and carefree having been freed from the cauldron of Kehl’igne . . .

“Perhaps it is good, it makes things much easier and safer to accomplish for what I fear is to come very soon.”

*Sensing what his Anniler’ir is speaking of, Grimwald nods in agreement . . .

“Indeed my friend, with each passing day the shaking becomes more and more violent. I too share in your fears that the end of our land as we know it is to come upon us, and at that we do not have much time to prepare the necessary movements. But even more pressing still, where shall we go?”

“There are still some we can call friends who would do well to understand our plight and might even be as so empathetic as to grant of asylum from the hellish horror that will soon befall our people. I will reach out to these and forge a path for the Mali’ker to travel, you have my word.”

*Feeling comfort in his words, Grimwald simply issues Arzota another bow . . .

“I will prepare the city for evacuation, upon your word we shall depart towards our new beginnings.”

*The two leave each others company in order to pursue their own directives in preparation for the potential destruction of the city.

A mere three Elven days had passed since the council members meeting regarding the volcano had occurred, and it was a mere three elven days did their worst fears became reality. The evacuation teams had just managed to move the last of the cities supplies to the designated zone before an earth shattering clap echoed out from the islands in the South-East. Kehl’igne had unleashed its full fury without much consideration for the nation that had blossomed at its base, spewing glowing hot rock in massive torrents down its peak. A thicker and more potent cloud of ash and screaming fireballs filled the sky around it, raining destruction down upon the immediate area and subsequently the former home of the Mali’ker nation.

Those who still called the city their home could do nothing but watch from the decks of ships or the shores of Laureh’lin as their whole lives were dashed away in an instant. The place their ancestors had dreamed of creating and their greatest of heroes had forged for them; All gone under heaping blankets of fire and impenetrable lava rock. The Mali’ker could no longer occupy Vivec, nor even resettle the island as the mountain still dumped layer upon layer of ash on it all, continuously being reignited by the rivers of lava that had carved a path from the source, branching out through the lower areas of the island.

However, not all was expressly lost for the evacuation had been a success. What remained of the nation's most prized relics and the remains of their honored heroes had been safely transported. The citizens had all been relocated and delivered towards relative security alongside their cousin kin. The Anniler’ir- Arzota Des’nox- had made good on his promise had secured his people a new land to call their home. Though tragic as it all was, perhaps this was truly the new beginning their nation needed. New leadership, new lands, new neighbors and a new city. Only time can tell if the Mali’ker and their nation can recover from such a catastrophic event but what can known for sure now is that there still exists the dedication burning brightly in those still left that was present in those who had got them all so far in the past.
