One of the times where I wish a -1 button existed on the forums....

To be frank, the Media Team simply lacked a leader that showed passion or initiative. I would have lent my hand to write a newsletter, or anything really, as I most enjoy writing for the server. If I had have known there was an interest in such skills, I would have applied, but I will be honest when I say I seen little outreach for anything other than artists, and on that front, a total failure to utilize the many skills and works they brought to the table. I don't think there was any official work commissioned, and Nummy's portraits were more sought after and recognized in the end than any Media Team projects.

By that I mean the team as a whole, not individual works, before anyone gets offended.

Just my two cents, I would like to see the return of the newsletter anyhow, and would love to have a hand in it.

Everything Zero has said and more.

I thought about returning to MT, I really did, good thing I didnt make an app. MT, gone. Mentors, gone.

Its sad to see the team go. TBH, during my time in MT, Sky was the best lead we had. I had my projects I put out monthly and made sure was done, to which was then stopped so you guys could do your own "monthly" newsletter. You want the community to help? Then make it work while.

RIP MT.

The Haelphon and Availer combo was the best leadership the MT has had, no offence to Sky ofc.

I don't like how this whole stigma against read and the MT has arisen. It really isn't the end of media on LOTC or is it a Readicti's fault.

The MT was doomed to fair for a while, there was literally a meme about inactivity. Literally the team was inactive and the team leads did nothing to inspire change.

It wasn't readicti's fault, I knew the MT was fucked as soon as I heard that an ADMIN took the role that a GM should have. She was just the poor **** who had to put the final nail in the coffin.

But the fact that Read had to take the position too is also a testimate of the MT's incapability. The fact that the MT hadn't provided any exceptional staff since Gigarun. For fucks sake Aeto wasn't even related to MT

The fact that no MT had stood out to go on to be GM and lead the team showed how incapable the team was, how little they provided to the server, but is this the end? I doubt it.

Back when I was just an AT I decided the Wiki was going down the drain, so I basically tried to bring it from the trash with some competitions. I got in contact with Readicti and got it sponsered. I ended up getting so much support, forming my unofficial Wiki Team which still exists TODAY. Now I have about 22 peeps who help me edit the wiki, I earned myself admin perms on the wiki and it's gone through a lot of changes.

You don't need an MT tag to make media for the server, simply a modreq saying; 'can you give me fly and vanish for a video' or a PM like; 'can you sponsor my art contest'. The newsletter required literally almost nothing to do.

If you're passionate about the content you provide for the server the loss of pex should mean NOTHING. Because it was almost unecessary. Cool dudes like Keem do things like Inktober completely seperate from MT.

I believe one of the big factors that got me a trial was my work on the wiki, which was completely seperate from AT, if you think you need a staff group to prove yourself, or even provide good media, sadly you may be mistaken.

The MT may be dead but the talented members it had, or may have had can still show themselves off, because media is media. You don't need PEX to make a thread and show yourself. Zer0 himself has shown the power of freelance.

Yes yes, we understand you want to keep your blue tag by being nice to the red tag. Meanwhile, if someone is incapable of actually doing anything about a team, perhaps they shouldn't become the leaders in the first place.

Also, maybe you should look back a bit and consider your words. Because I remember when Urasept promoted Wode to GM for her 'examplary' performance in the VAT. AKA, she was absolute dogsh*t at her job, like, even the AFK guys in the team did better than her. But Urasept liked the girl, so she got GM VAT leader over much, much more capable people like Geo. (Surprise surprise, Urasept is not actually unbiased. I've got some nice examples of it in my pocket.) So yeah, providing people as capable GM's is not the best way to judge the quality of a team.

If a team leader can't take it upon themselves to kick those who do jack ****, and get people who are motivated, who'se fault is it? Hm, I wonder.

And about your little anecdote, here's one of mine. When I joined the server once again in June 2014, I decided I wanted to be an LM. I wrote some ****, posted it and 3 weeks after coming back from a year long absence I had the piss-yellow badge in game. Let's not pertend it's easy to accomplish anything without the team, and authority to do it. I liked expanding on often useless lore for the server, but before I became an LM, I had to go through a million bureaucratic gates to get anything official. When I became an LM I could pretty much accept and implement my own lore without giving a **** what other people thought, as long as it wasn't world changing.

So yeah, teams matter, and competent team leaders even more so.
