Aifric Driscoll 5 Share Posted January 21, 2016 Cedrik sits quietly, pen in hand, parchment upon the table, and inkwell ready to yield its ink. Breathing deeply and uttering a short prayer, Cedrik begins to write, his Lorraine cross clutched tightly in his left hand as he scrawls hastily with his right. A Thesis on Charitable Evangelization, penned by Cedrik Engel, eternal servant of the Holy Father In nomine Patris. A man fed by another is beholden to him that provides food. Such is hardly deniable, even in the sense that a man who tends fields that belong to another is beholden to him who owns the land; for land brings forth food with the labor of the tenant, and thus the tenant is fed by the landlord. This is the manner in which our world is governed. This feudal government over which our ever merciful and most blessed GOD presides provides for a system that encourages loyalty and promotes a mutual understanding of responsibility. For without such system the Holy Orenian Empire would utterly crumble upon its weak foundation, and the Church of the Most High Father would be left stranded upon the harsh landscapes of this Plane. Thus, the importance of the general necessity of sustenance is realized. Upon this revelation, the Church may begin to develop a plan in which the scattered masses of the Pagan world shall be brought forth into the eternal light of our Father, blessed be His Divine Providence. For from the ashes of this broken world of dismal heathens and faltering believers, the Church may yet arise anew, bearing the holy might of GOD upon the mob of the proletariat, and elevate them to a higher standing, one of communion with His Divine Mercy. Therefore I beg the Church, I beseech it, to take up its Holy Standard and, in addition to the multitude of righteous practices it currently exercises, wield the almighty weapon of Charity, and spread His Love to all corners of this Earth, and perhaps the Pagan may begin to realize the falsity of his idolatrous gods, and turn to the liberating light of the Holy Father. Thus I pray unto Him, that he may guide the Church with His Mighty Hand and evangelize this crippled land and the whole world may cry “Glory!” unto the Heavens. In nomine Patris, Amen. Bogrin 120 Share Posted January 21, 2016 A philosopher reads the treatise, and sits back for a moment to ponder. With determination on his face, he leans forward, dips his quill, and begins to write. Most Honorable and Holy Deacon, I Do, With The Greatest Respect, Disagree With Your Treatise On Charitable Evangelization To equate charity and our social structure is intrinsically a fallacy. To commit an act of charity is, at its very heart, an act without expecting a return. You claim those receiving of charity are beholden to their philanthropists in the same manner as the serf is to the lord, but I argue that they are not, in fact, beholden in any manner. The relationship between the serf and the lord, or the lord and the vassal is in essence an agreement, let us say for the sake of formality, a contract. This 'social contract' if you will is the basis of our society, not charity. While I do not oppose the spread of the Faith through the act of charity, I do oppose the belief that charity is the manner in which our society has been built. In addition I would believe it to be quite foolish to expect those who are recipients of the Faith's charity to be beholden to the Church. Heff 2460 Share Posted January 21, 2016 Deacon Engel of Felsen, Your works are a fresh reminder that not all the realm are nobles and burghers, who live in keeps and manors. Perhaps, as once noted in my youth, the heart of the Faith are those of the street. Of the lean-to, the backwater alley, the inn room. We must look to those less fortunate and bring GOD's peace upon them, teach them of his mercy and that they will be met with eternal happiness at his hands. Their life on this earth is hard, it is our duty to extend mercy upon them. We shall aid them in this life, so that in the Skies they shall be recognized as pious souls.
