Histories

Lancefeld is a house descended from the far north of Aegis. Its ancestral home was the lands of Hanseti in the first empire before its destruction. It currently lords over the area of Avernus in the eastern part of the Empire. Throughout the different ages since its founding as a simple family, the male members of House Lancefeld have, above any other skill, proven themselves to be highly competent at the art of war, both fighting in the ranks and commanding others in doing so. They are, in addition, the last known prominent survivors of the old Royal Hanseti, a fact that the family’s members have always boasted about with pride and continue to do so.

 

The first appearance and records of the traditionally Hansetian and militaristic Lancefeld family were seen to have originated in the old frigid Northlands of Aegis- before the early Undead emergence in the age of strife. As minions of the destroyer wreathed the deep north in darkness, many refugees came flooding into the lands of Oren; including groups of Pagan tribesmen from the icy steppe. One of these pagans, a man said to have been named named Drakon and his tribal group, made the exodus south to the Teutonic capital of Konigsberg to flee from the undead terror. This primitive population did not yet have surnames, as the natives did in the rest of the human lands. The name ‘Dragonflayer’ name was colloquially given to and adopted by the tribe in question after they were said to have slain and skinned an unknown Dragonkin in the deep north years before.

 

Drakon himself had adapted quite quickly to Orenic and particularly Hansetian customs and traditions of the area that he had come to live in, and quickly found himself enlisting in the Teutonic Order, the local military order of the region in order to fight the menace of Iblees’ horde. He converted from his Pagan tribal religion to the Church of the true Faith and also changed his name in order to further prove his new love and dedication to his country and religion; he became Drakon Lancefeld. That is all the detail that is known about Drakon and his life, however it is known that he married a Hansetian woman named Alexandra later on in life, and had children.

 

The Lancefeld colours are a simple black and white. The new sigil contains a black helmet representing the the proud military skill and history of the old Hansetian people, retained within the family’s blood, the white dragon symbolising the Horenic ancestry of the family and the cross symbolizing the old Teutonic Order to which the family’s scions remained loyal.

OSCAR LANCEFELD [1524 +]  - Baron of Avernus, Eldest child and son of Ser Drake II Lancefeld and Carolyn Horen.

 

 

His Father, DRAKE II LANCEFELD † [1412 - 1541] - Sariant of the Teutonic Order, Knight of Nordwen. Grand Champion of the Fringe. Fought in the battle at the Dreadfort at age 14, rendered comatose for decades afterwards due to the machinations of Setherien. Resurfaced sometime later and fought in the Renatus rebellion and the Dukes War, as well as assisting the Golden Lance in killing Setherien and commanding Imperial armies in the Fringe. Widely believed to have been damaged by Setherien, making him age slower than usual. Died alone in a shipwreck.

His Mother, CAROLYN HOREN [1504 +] - Aunt of Emperor John, wife to Drake II. Paladin of the Order of the Golden Lion along with her husband for a time.

 

 

His Grandfather, DRAKE I LANCEFELD † [13XX - 1426] - Ventured north from Hanseti to Renatus after the Holy Oren Empire was formed and squired under Ser Fionn Frostsword. Later returned home and became Sariant of the Teutonic Order of Asulon, father of Drake II. Emotionally collapsed upon the disappearance of his  wife and died at the Battle of the Dreadfort, where he fought alongside his young son before being separated and  perishing in arrow fire during the final charge.

His Grandmother, WINTER AUSTRIUS † [13XX - 1425] - Wife of Drake I. Sariant of the Teutonic Order under the guise of a common male footsoldier. Discovered as a woman by Drake and the two fell in love and were married in the years prior to the battle of the Dreadfort. Kidnapped during an attack on a Sariant patrol and disappeared along with four other Teutonic knights. Thought to have suffered unspeakable horrors at the hands of Hanseti’s enemies, her body was found mutilated after the battle at the Dreadfort and her armour was recovered and kept as a memorial by her son after her rightful burial.
