The Hierarch's Illness

The elf strode into the center of his nation, weight resting upon a cane as well as his own two legs. It was a beautiful day in the warm summer isle, his gaze glancing about the hustle and bustle of his citizens. He watched and waited for a few moments, long enough to release a hacking cough, awaiting a few to notice him standing there. When it seemed appropriate, after several had halted their conversations and workings to focus upon the elf, he finally spoke, voice elevated throughout the town through some unclear means, though the noise would still convey his softened voice and evident frailness.

"Citizens of Sanctuary, I shall keep this short. I, your Hierarch Laethis izalith, have grown ill. Though it is my hope this illness does not take me, for the time being I am not in a position fit to lead you.

As such, Prince and High Magister Orsino Acal'elor shall act as my regent for the time being, and should be held as the highest authority in Celein for the time being. If my health improves in the near future, I shall return to my post. If not, the Prince shall handle whatever transition proves necessary.

I have absolute faith in his ability to rule in my stead, and trust you shall afford him the respect you afford me. If you absolutely need me, contact a member of the Ministry or Elevated Bloodlines, as they know how to get in contact with me.

May each of you find Peace and Progress whilst I am away. Thank you."

With this, Laethis would promptly turn, slowly making his ascent back up the path to his home. He would not answer questions if any were posed, but instead continue along his path.

With his return home, the Hierarch would find his wife awaiting his arrival, the pair immediately closing the distance between them, wrapping in a warm embrace. As his lips pressed to hers, he allowed the cane to fall to the ground, his facade of frailty fading as they join together.

"It is done, dear, and now my true work begins."

With his wife at his side, the elf descends to the lower halls of his manor. He comes to rest in a bare room, save for the papers, notebooks and tools strewn about, some hanging from the wall, others scattered throughout the floor. In the midst of them, there was a space large enough for an elf to stand or sit, a spot Laethis had clearly occupied previously.

He glances to his wife one last time as he returns to where he had sat, lowering himself to the cold stone floor, forcing a small smile. "Thank you for being here, dear. Know that I love you dearly, regardless of what I find."

Following whatever she would say, the elf's smile would rest upon his lips as he closed his eyes, retreating into the swirling escape of his minds as the two drew closer and closer together, entranced in whatever his efforts might reveal.

((TO NOTE: I am going to be on hiatus until after my exams done and my short trip afterward is concluded. Also, my computer is broken which sort of precludes me from being around much anyways. Expect this to be for about a week and a half. LOVE YOU ALL!))

Falecity, leant against some form of wall, raises her eyebrow and crosses her arms over her chest. After remaining quiet for some time, she clicks her fingers and groans outloud in recognition.

"That's who owns this place, now I remember! Oh right, he better not be spreading his plague around. Do not want that gack."

"Let us hope he survives this illness, unlike the many who have fallen to their own..." Garsto would say to himself, "It would be a shame to lose Laethis."

Velulaei smiles softly as he departs. Brushing herself down as she looks around at those gathered. "With how hard he has worked, he deserves some rest." she turns, heading off to do whatever is needed around town.
