I feel like lock picking adds a realistic sense to LOTC, giving players an opportunity to build upon their character, and gain some more Items at the  same time.

I don't know if anyone has said this or not because I'm not about to read 7 pages of comments but to me the problem with lockpicking named items out of chests is that nobody is doing anything to let someone know that the rare item is there. It should be on the Event Team or the GM team to create stories/legends/dungeons that are events and have items at the end of them.

Instead, you expect us to go around to 100 chests floating around at a build site and just randomly pick a chest hoping there will be a rare item in there? I know that's not what you expect but it's a way of thinking about it. If you ask me, I think any chest spam out in the open should be unlocked. If the player won't take the time to ensure that the contents of the chest are safe, why let them lock many chests in the middle of a field and then just be mad that someone could steal from them.

It's common sense. In a realistic setting (which is more or less what this server is trying to be), a Lord or wanted man will walk around with guards to ensure that he is safe. A terrific example of this being RP'd correctly is Altiak as Edgar de Saltpans. He's a wanted criminal in Felsen and has a nearly unlimited bounty by Mylas, but stays away from Felsen completely, OOC'ly and RP'ly. Does his bidding through snakey peasants. Stays hidden. But now i'm just on a tangent.

tl:dr - no rp items worth knowing to go looking for to lockpick, get your **** together ET

I just hate how I have to ask for a GM every time.

Plus the locked chests thing is kinda a pain in the ass to be honest, considering how you magically can't steal from certain ones.

Maybe a plugin? A chance to succeed in lockpicking a certain lock. If it's an iron door you have a lower chance of succeeding, maybe same thing with double chests.

  • Limit the amount of items one can take.
  • Limit the amount of attempts one has
  • Add a longer cool-down on the lock to when it can be lockpicked again, after one has succeeded in lockpicking or failed multiple times in a row.
  • Owner of the lock has to be online
