Pacta Conventa of the Carnati-Courlander Hostilities, 1559

 

Issued and Confirmed by His Imperial Majesty the Holy Orenian Emperor John II Sigismund, 14th of the Deep Cold, 1559

 

TO OUR BELOVED SUBJECTS,

 

On this date, the 14th of the Deep Cold, 1559, we do hereby declare the Pacta Conventa: set of legal standards and restrictions upon the sanctioned feud between the Duchy of Courland and the Carnatian League, composed of the Baron of Kraken’s Watch, Duke of Carnatia, and Hetman of the Krajian Hetmanate. In order to maintain the holy and desired peace within the realm, to uphold loyalty to the Imperial Crown and State, and to preserve the noble estates enoffed by the Imperial State, all party members must acknowledge the listed terms and hold them paramount over their dispute.

 

ARTICLE I - On the Nature of Alliances and Soldiery

1. Neither party may call upon foreign or domestic born freeriders or mercenaries, those soldiers with no allegiance except the pay of coin, for martial, fiscal, or diplomatic assistance.

2. Neither party may call upon the arcane or Ibleeic powers, those which are inhuman and contradictory to our world, for martial, fiscal, or diplomatic assistance.

3. Neither party may call upon the Elven estates, specifically the Dominion of Malin, for martial, fiscal, or diplomatic assistance.

4. Neither party may call upon foreign lords, even with regard to the sacred bond of marriage, for martial, fiscal, or diplomatic assistance.

5. Both parties may call upon domestic lords sworn directly to the Imperial State, only if with regard to the sacred bond of marriages between the Houses, for martial, fiscal, or diplomatic assistance.

6. Neither party may call upon vassal lords of lords, even with regard to the sacred bond of marriage, for martial, fiscal, or diplomatic assistance.

7. Upon the Duchy of Courland party, only those lords with sacred marriage to the House of Staunton may be called upon for martial, fiscal or diplomatic assistance.

8. Upon the Carnatian League party, only those lords with sacred marriage to the House of Vanir may be called upon for martial, fiscal, or diplomatic assistance.

9. Upon the Duchy of Courland party, lords with sacred marriage to any vassal house of the Duchy of Courland may not be called upon for martial, fiscal, or diplomatic assistance.

10. Upon the Carnatian League party, lords with sacred marriage to any of the coalition members, specifically the House of Barbovic, House of Kovachev, and the Hetman of Krajia, or any vassal house of the Duchy of Carnatia, Barony of Kraken’s Watch, or the Hetmanate of Krajia may not be called upon for martial, fiscal, or diplomatic assistance.

 

ARTICLE II - On the Nature of War and Peace

1. Both parties may, during a designated field or naval battle, establish camps before the battlefield, garrison their soldiery in said encampments, and coordinate their logistics and otherwise from said encampments.

2. The advancing party may, during a designated field or naval siege, establish camps before the enemy fortification, garrison their soldiery in said encampments, and coordinate their logistics and otherwise from said encampments.

3. Both parties may, during the duration of the conflict, partake in supplyline raiding and fortification sacking around the current warfront. [OOC: There must a minimum of five or more defenders within the faction being raided to be able to raid. If there is, the offending party may raid any settlement within the warfront an unlimited amount of times. All conflict must be located around the current attack objective. During the prelude to the Siege of Kraken’s Watch, only Kraken’s Watch and its surrounding land and the corresponding siege camp can be attacked, and so on and so forth when the front changes/moves.]

4. The current warfront is situated around Kraken's Watch at the signing of this document.

5. Neither party may attack any lord or land not associated within the current conflict.

6. Neither party may, during the duration of the conflict, deny calls to banners by the Imperial State, in the threat of foreign or domestic dangers.

7. Neither party may, after the passing of this document, overly extend defenses or destroy the natural beauty of the land encompassing the fortification. [OOC: PVP Forts, those forts built merely for PVP, and any new castle built after this is posted is prohibited. This also means you cannot rebuild defenses or create an endless amount of traps, nor can you build anything which would be considered landscarring.]

8. The Duchy of Courland party, if holding the Barony of Kraken’s Watch after the siege, may advance upon the Duchy of Carnatia in a skirmish and eventual sack of Gryphon’s Hold. [OOC: If Courland wins the Siege of Kraken’s Watch, they have the initiative in an attacking field battle against Carnatia, and if they win said skirmish may sack Gryphon’s Hold after a siege.

9. The Carnatian League party, if capturing the Barony of Kraken’s Watch after the siege, may advance upon the Duchy of Courland in a skirmish and eventual sack of the Imperial City of Riga. [OOC: If Carnatia wins the Siege of Kraken’s Watch, they have the initiative in an attacking field battle against Courland, and if they win said skirmish may sack Riga after a siege.]

 

ARTICLE III - On the Punishing of Offenders

1. Any infractions of these codified obligations will result in punishment by the Imperial State, as informed by the Chief Justices.

2. The Chief Justice and Imperial Intendant for the Duchy of Courland party is Ser Maric of the House of Horen-Vimmark.

3. The Chief Justice and Imperial Intendant for the Carnatian League party is Prince Henry Joseph of Furnestock.
