“The Kha’ will moongaze on the matter. Perhaps more information will be gleaned of the past visions. We have been left in the dark as of now, but perhaps Metztli has decreed the veil of ignorance to be lifted.”

With that utterance, three priests rose from where they sat, each following the other as they ascended higher and higher into the manor until they reached the rooftops, where they settled themselves to wait.As the sky drew dark and the moon peeker from the horizon, the gathered priests began their ritual. One by one, they closed their eyes, and one by one the slipped into the Moongazing trance, eyes shining like stars against the backdrop of night. They the priests sat, searching for an answer to their prayers.

They did not have to wait long.

As if on cue, She answered. The gathered feel a shift as their minds lock together in harmony and begin to move as one. A warm embrace follows, a feeling of motherly guidance and comfort. A presence grasps the Priests bound minds then, ushering them onwards, deeper into the vision. A warm glow suddenly pierces through the black shroud, warm and soft as the rising sun. The vision shifts and, with almost divine tranquility, focuses.

Trees, and a lake take shape, emerging from the darkness.

But then, the pain. Unbelievable pain.A vicious pounding, like the beat of a thousand drums, echos through the priests’ collective consciousness, scattering the dream as it fades to a blur. Iron bands circle the minds of the three as they lay dormant, unable to escape the pain as the vision fights to maintain itself. Two great forces, their identities cloaked by the blurring of the image, clash before the captive audience. Fragmented images cascade past the priests, each passing too quickly to make out before they are torn away.

The pattern continues, images coming into focus and being wiped away just as fast. Whatever force heralded the vision on seemed determined to show the gathered priests… something, but whatever force had intervened seemed just as determined on ripping the scenes to shreds.

At last, the pain ceases and a vision becomes clear. A set of structures, ten obelisks in total, each of varying design and color, pierce the sky. The scene is torn asunder and replaced with another, that of a key. Then, the vision jerks to a halt. No gentle fade to dark, as is commonplace for many communions with Metztli, but the stark shock of being dropped from the trance. The vision is torn asunder, thrusting the watchers back to reality as whatever presence initiated the vision finally fails. Pulse racing and brows feverish, the priests stare agape at each other, stunned.

Something had meddled with a prophecy. Metztli had been contested in her own domain.

Tepah would be found sharpening his trident, a simple task to keep his mind off of things as he mutters "it's funny how many think to take the Goddesses comfort from us, take her message of love. Do they not understand we will simply delve into wrath till we get back our Mother?"
