Sigils sound like an awesome way to balance racial perks, and add more character customization/RP potential. +1 from me!

Thanks Dev team for keeping us up to date with your plans!

Remove swing timers completely, trying to find balance between both will just lead to one being better then the other. Listen to the majority and fully remove swing times.

Telanir will my memes still be dank after this?

The swing timers idea sounds interesting but I am sceptical of how well balanced it will be. I can see weapons with the 1.8 swing timers becoming the 'Rune Scimitars' of LotC combat.

Can we just remove swing timers all together? Personally I just want to worry whether I have a sword and a bow and some armor when I fight, not if I have some steel heavy bastard sword and expertly crafted thornbark bullshit. Stop complicating combat.

Finally we have good news.

Only thing I'm wary about is the swing timer weapon set up. Are daggers and shortswords or whatever just mechanically superior to the 'larger' weapons? If so, what's the point of making the larger weapon? If not, then it's de facto 1.9 pvp anyway.

Adding 1.8 weapons to a 1.9 Server? Did we not see the effect of this when all the Glitched rusty blades were being used? . . And even if the damage is lowered on the 1.8 weapons, one type of weapon is going to be superior over the other, either 1.8 weapons or 1.9. Instead of trying to appeal with both types of players, Either choose 1.9 or 1.8. Dont try to mix them.

Devs: Nobody wants 1.9 pvp?

Devs: The community is demanding we remove 1.9?

Devs: Alright lets compromise by not removing 1.9

We do have many people who prefer 1.9 combat over 1.8 as well, and we'd do best not to discount them just because they are a minority. We will do our best to beta-test this feature with as much feedback as possible to make sure that neither preference holds advantage over another.

@Telanir More on the Sigils thing while you are juggling maintenance and this post, do you have any games in mind when you think of these? Aswell, since pvp buffs are being taken out will these sigils have any sort of mechanical relevance? Such as 'Horserider' while riding a horse you have 5% more speed? Or some sort of sigil that affects the random drops in mines and such, so instead of getting random iron you can be the 'Gilded One' and get more gold drops instead? Food for thought.

I'm glad you asked, Oblivion & Skyrim come to mind and we might mix in Stellaris-esque point distribution, but likely just stick to simple terms. Sigils will have significance in the game, but will never be directly related to damage in combat, so to speak.

With the authentication feature is it a one time thing per IP or is it required every time you log in? If so, please add an option which could make it per IP.

From my understanding, that means that non (or very low) swing timer weapons will do very little damage compared to regular swing timer weapons. I'm suspicious that's not really going to be a good compromise.

Type /auth setup and hover over the different security levels, they explain what they do. Typing the actual command won't actually enable it, it just contains a bunch of instructions.

Possibly, but it won't be a matter of `little damage`, because people who can string repeated lines of attacks with 1.8 MC can focus-fire someone who without the proper skill would buckle.

True. I'm just worried that 1.9 people will find the 1.8 buzzers to be not fun to fight against and 1.8 people will not enjoy buzzing people around with low damage making everyone sad.

You are gutting all the differences from the races and making everyone equal.

This is litterally another step into the direction of medieval human roleplay server.

After looking through the authentication it does not say anything of a level involving that the login stays allowed as long as it is from a consistent IP, I'd suggest adding that as a replacement to low.

If you authenticate as any level, you can afterwards /auth manage and set it to CUSTOM where you can disable IP. I forgot to mention that!
