What is roleplaying?: The act of creating a character and imagining yourself to be that character, this can be done in singleplayer games, such as the Elder Scrolls or Fallout series, or multiplayer games such as WoW or Minecraft.

What is metagaming?: Using knowledge that the player knows but the character does not or should not to give yourself an unfair advantage, for example if you have foreknowldege of  a major server event, changing your character to suit it.

What is power-emoting (powergaming)?: Attempting to give yourself an unfair advantage by making your character better than others or not giving others the chance to react to a roleplay situation, such as forcing someone into an rp fight or taking down four enemies without giving them a chance to react.

Character’s name: Bredock Ironcloak

Character’s age: 26

Biography: Born of Hanseti parents in the year 1549, Bredock's father was a hunter and his mother stayed home and tended to the housework. When Bredock was still a baby they were forced to flee from their village home in the Highlands to Felsen, as the leader of the village had found out that Bredock's father had been hunting on his land.  Outraged, he put a bounty on the heads of Bredock's father and mother.  On the way to Felsen, they were attacked by bandits who had heard about the bounty. His father fought well, but was no match for the bandits superior numbers. His mother was cut down in cold blood, the bandits showing little remorse, despite this, they took a liking to Bredock, and he was spared because of his noticeably large build, even as a baby.  The bandits took him in and trained him.  He was no martial artist, but he could throw a punch and swing a sword with the best of them. Still he was dissatisfied with his current skillset, as any brawler on the street could possibly best him.
  Bredock had no idea what he wanted to do or be in life, until one day a mage was brought before the bandit leader and used mental illusion magic to convince him to let him go. From this day on, Bredock knew he wanted to be a mage. Content the bandit clan can teach him no more, at the age of 18 he heads out into the wild. He will try to travel to the major cities, looking for a mage to teach him, and he will possibly even head for the mage's guild.  (To clarify the mage freed himself, not Bredock.  Bredock does not remember his parents and was free to leave at any time.  He was adopted by the bandit clan, not kidnapped.  I felt I had to include this as I'm happy with the backstory and I didn't feel like rewriting it.  This was one of the reasons my first applications was denied).

 

Personality Traits: Many think he's quiet and shy, but from growing up in a bandit clan, Bredock learned not to reveal too much about yourself to anyone until you trust them.  Bandits, such as the ones Bredock was raised by, could have any number of bounties on their head and not know it.  When you first meet Bredock he will be reserved, but dig a bit deeper, talk to him a little, and he may begin to trust you and show his true colours.  He's ambitious - He's willing to go to the ends of the earth to become a mage.  He's funny - Bredock will crack jokes at every opportunity, some of them may be in bad taste, and are sure to get him into a few brawls, and some of them are, well, just plain bad and will draw a cringe from anyone nearby.  He's dangerous - While he isn't the best fighter in the world, he will not hesitate to kill or wound enemies.  Growing up with bandits taught him to be ruthless and show no mercy, let your opponent live, and you could be stumbling away with a knife between the shoulder blades. 

Ambitions: Ever since witnessing what magic could do to a ruthless bandit leader, Bredock has aimed to be able to do this.  After realising he could not learn from reading books on magic (not that the bandits have any books on magic anyway), Bredock decided it was time to head out into the world and study magic.  It was not a decision he made lightly, remember, the bandit camp was the only home he's ever known and walking away from it shows how dedicated he is to learning magic.

Strengths/Talents: Growing up with bandits is bound to teach you a few things, for example, Bredock learned how to swing a sword and had quite the aptitude for survival and hunting, skills like archery, setting traps, tracking etc.  These can no doubt be attributed to his father, who was a hunter, but of course the bandit clan never let him know this and put it down to sheer coincidence.  

 
Weaknesses/Inabilities: Bredock is quite emotional, to him the worst pain is betrayal and this can affect him in many ways, it can affect his fighting, it can affect his health and it can affect his goals, his ambition to become a mage.  This ambition however, could be seen as a disability itself, with Bredock, despite being a good enough person (as good as you can be to be raised by bandits) he isn't afraid to step on people to reach his goals. 

 

(NOTE) Above I said Bredock was ruthless and shows no mercy, this is only in battle.  Out of battle Bredock, as I also said, is quiet and shy, but kindhearted (to a degree) once you get to know him.

Appearance: Dark brown hair and hazel eyes. 6'1". Wears a leather overcoat with a green shirt and faded blue trousers. Wears a metal gauntlet on his right arm.
