Explanation:

Curses are inflicted with very little impunity because when a Puppeteer inflicts pain on another, they also inflict some on themselves. The amount of pain is subjective to the level of experience the character holds in the sub-type, and it’s dictated by tier. When afflicting somebody with a curse you must always retain physical contact with your puppet, whether it be jabbing, prickling, or simply holding its head over a fire to give the person a headache. If said curses center on physical disabilities, such as crippling somebody, then it will be remedied once the curse is broken. Physical deformities brought on by this branch of cursing however will remain intact and must be purged by a user of holy magic.

Materials:

Soul Puppetry primarily uses three sources to use the magic to its fullest potential, the blood, the catalyst, and the connection. The fundamentals of the art are easy to grasp, you must first harvest the blood of your chosen victim and use your mana to form a bridge between the victim and your puppet. Simplistic puppets can be created with rotten pinewood, whereas high-leveled puppets would be molded from netherack. The stronger the material the more experienced the Puppeteer must be in order to use it as a catalyst.

Life Puppet:

A Life Puppet is one that does not adhere to a strict duration. It lasts until the connection is forcefully stopped, however you can't have any other puppets active during this time. It should be noted that you are able to disconnect from this puppet at any time to stop the curse and resume making basic puppets for your hexes. The price of this powerful catalyst is a constant 10% backlash.

Progression:

Tier 1: created with wood or other organic materials such as moss, clay, or straw. Puppeteers can remain connected for an hour.

Tier 2: encompassed by hair, wool, fur, feathers, or animal hide. Puppeteers can remain connected for 3-6 hours.

Tier 3: flesh. Puppeteers can maintain their connection for a day.

Tier 4: flesh and bones. 3-5 days.

Tier 5 - The user has become a master of the arts of soul puppetry and can now use all curses with ease. As you master this art you begin to meddle with curses that have -magical- effects.  Each effect is based on the material of the puppet you create.   You can permanently bind someones soul to a puppet, that it could only be removed with magic. To reach tier 5 would take about 4 months.

Red Lines:

  • You need fresh blood to perform Soul Puppetry. You always need a puppet to inflict curses.
  • The puppet must roughly resemble the individual you seek to curse.
  • You cannot have more than one Life Puppet under any circumstances.
  • Other magics cannot be used in conjunction with SP to make more magical afflictions excluding Shade and Blood Magic.
  • You must have physical contact for ongoing curses that don't cause physical deformities.
  • You must always role-play the weaknesses of your magic such as backfire damages and the frailty brought on by the use of dark magic.
  • You cannot control what they specifically see or their emotions
