Wood Elves - The Player's Guide

Hello!

 

If you are reading this, you are either thinking of making a wood elf character, or have just been handed this in-game after wandering into Glaedwynn for the first time. Well, if you're looking to integrate into wood elven society, or even just get the information you need to flesh out your character's backstory, this thread has everything wood-elfy you need to know, all compiled in one place!

 

You may have seen something like this before being shown this thread:

 

 

If you have been linked this thread in the form of a 'bundle of scrolls' in RP, or told to go find them in the Caras Eldar library (like in the screenshot above), then each one of the threads below represents an individual scroll which your character is now in possession of in roleplay. Any information you read on these threads you can then translate into your character reading off of the scrolls.

 

However, even if you were not given any 'scrolls' in RP or directly linked to this thread by someone, you are encouraged to make your wood elf character have least have some background knowledge of all the information below.  So, you can read the threads OOCly (out-of-character), then proceed to implement it into your character's background and roleplay accordingly.

How to make your wood elf look lore-appropriate. Short version: Don't be pale.

Note: This thread is purely out-of-character and will not be one of the scrolls you can find and read in roleplay.

 

Aspectism

The official religion of the Laurelin elves. This is possibly the most important aspect (pun intended) of wood elf RP, and if you choose to only read one post linked here, it should be this one!

 

The Naelurir

A branch of the druidic order. The Naelurir are elven druids who serve as the warrior-priests of wood elf kind. Their job consists part-time of maintaining Aspectist tradition in Linandria, and controlling nature itself to fight off all manner of spooky invaders.

 

The Wood Elven Seeds

Seeds are tight-knit wood elven tribal groups who dominate the politics of Linandria (like human noble houses). Their unique cultures and quirks form the main dynamics of wood elven life. Seeds have roots in ancient wood elf history.

 

Cultural Tattoos

A gallery of tattoos (known as Ilmyumier) worn by the Wood Elves to indicate certain statuses and roles.

Ancient History

How it all began. This thread tells the story of how all the major pieces of wood elf culture came to be, from Aspectism, to the Seeds, and even the Naelurir. A must read for any educated wood elf!
