The Hour of Truth

The palace was dark, darker than it had ever been. Erik Othaman former mute bodyguard to King Petyr Barbanov stood outside the walls surrounded by a band of Vagabonds under his charge. He had noticed how the lights in the palace had been dimmed this night, not a single candle burnt in the halls tonight. He knew something was wrong. He wanted to find out what it was.

Erik grabbed a grappling hook out of an old chest in the back alley where he hung with his band of roughlings. He looked up at the palace one last time and shoved the hook into the hands of Alfrid One-Eye. “We’ve got a job to do..” he said, a deep and dark voice coming from even darker man. He had quite a life behind him, murdering and raiding at will, losing his king, losing his sons. A monster, some would call him.. An Animal..

The loud sound of a shattering window didn’t seem to alert anyone. One by one five vagabonds climbed into the palace through the window using a grappling hook with a rope. Last to arrive in the hall was a huge man clad in black armor with a golden crow on his chestplate. Standing at 7 foot at the very least, Erik ‘The Animal’ Othaman entered the hallway. They rushed through the hallways to find them empty and unmanned, until they collided with a servant who was laying out Thanium. An all too familiar substance to Erik and his gang. One-Eye Alfrid snapped the servant’s neck without second thought and Erik directed his lads to the chambers of a very old friend. Alexander Sigismund Horen.

Alexander was shook up by the sound of a door being kicked in. As he looked around in terror, he saw how an uncommonly large man with a golden crow on his chest approached, and sent his gauntlet to his face. All turned black, and all turned silent.

After a short and fast paced walk, the company reached a hidden doorway in the side of the city walls. It lead to a steep ravine which again lead to the river. Erik Othaman left his grappling hook inside as he shut the door, creating a strong blockage and allowing the group to safely rappel down to the river, where rowing boat awaited them. Alexander woke up in the boat and as they rowed away from the city, they heard a loud bang which suppressed their hearing for moments, before lighting the sky in blue. They turned around and watched as the city burned.. Oren had fallen…

“We’re takin’ you to yer boat yer Majesteh.” Said a one eyed figure as Alexander turned away from the city, saddened deeply.

“What happened?” Alexander asked, shocked by what had happened. “Yer fam’ly was goin’ t’blow the ci’y t’bits M’lord, found lots o’ explosives in t’tunnels when I was lookin’ for an easy way out o’ the city. We couldn’ leave without last sane Royal yer Grace.. Erik wouldn’ have it.”
