The Kingsguard

Every ruler must surround himself with those he trusts unconditionally, dwed of which loyalty and valor ever remains their defining characteristic. The Grand King’s cohort; the regal guard - are hand picked by his majesty to serve and protect him throughout his reign.

 

Through their vows, these dwed are sworn on their honor to keep him from the face of harm and ensure his reign endures. Whilst it is a duty, it is also an honor to serve his majesty as a personal guard. One must earn their place to stand beside his grace at the foot of the obsidian throne.

 

• To serve and protect the interests of the Grand King, ensuring his safety always.

• To accompany the Grand King on all excursions from the palace, assessing the safety of each situation accordingly.

• To ensure the Grand King is well equipped and aided in battles or skirmishes.

• To offer their lives as tribute in protection of the Grand King.

 

Incumbent Kingsguards

 

Captain Onar Ireheart

 

 

“Can I follow you around and beat up assassins? I’ve got nothing better to do.”

 

A bureaucrat and career politician in his youth, Onar has since become a loyal and ardent Kingsguard. Through his loyalty, he has been ascended to the highest ranking officer within the cohort. Conveniently also the Grand King’s brother.

 

Svardin Grandaxe

 

 

“‘How could I resist a position of the highest honour?”

 

A Dwarf well versed in the works of the military, serving as a personal guard, leader and also as Marshal. Svardin has been fighting in the name of Urguan since a very young age, and sees no reason why he should stop now. He believes highly in honour, as all Dwarves should, and believes honour is earned. His patron being Dungrimm, Svardin has chosen to take the role of a protector, and therefore happily offers his service to the Grand King.

 

Kilgrim Irongut

 

 

“Strength in the mind, strength in the heart, and strength in the body, that’s what it takes to be a Kingsguard.”

 

Kilgrim has seen kingdoms rise and fall through the ages. He has been on councils, parties, courts. He has held kings and heros on his shoulder, and he does not intend to falter now. He was there when the kingdom formed. He was there when it fell, and he will always be there to pick it back up.

 

Ronnie Frostbeard

 

 

“Step back, I am a Kingsguard.”

 

A veteran amongst the dwarven people, Ronnie shows character, charisma and excellent marshal skill. He is held in high esteem amongst his fellow Kingsguard and shows great diligence in his work in protecting the Grand King.

 

Rurik

 

 

“Protect. Impera.”

The final member of the Kingsguard, a golem. Whilst the loyalty and strength of the dwarves amongst the Kingsguard is unparalleled, having the unquestionable loyalty and immense strength of a Golem amongst the Kingsguard proves to be a valuable asset to the Grand King.
