(Avar before the fall)

The recent history befalling the dwarven clan was filled with numerous tragedy. Ousted from their home in Kal'Bogrin in Northern Athera before Oren could capture the resources the clan based there, and ousted again south in Kal'Eknar during the Orc war, the clan was in a rather fragile state. The Clan Father, Fili Grandaxe went missing early onto the dwarven arrival at Kal'Akash in vailor, prompting the former Clan Father himself Fimlin Grandaxe to take the role up again. At first the war-weary dwed wanted nothing to do with being ousted from holdings beyond the capital, and built his clan back up in the dwarven capital Kal'Akash.

Grand King Balek Irongut, the ever wise ruler eventually sought to claim a large island in between the two isles of Vailor, and sent the Adunians to settle it, constructing the city of Hiraeth. Eventually it came apparent however that a more direct dwarven involvement would be needed to fortify the island. With great consideration Fimlin volunteered his clan to try and forge a final home for his clan. The Grand King then chartered the Grandaxes as being the governors of the island they now named Avar, giving the title of Jarl to Fimlin Grandaxe.

Soon after their charter was given the Grandaxes set sail east for the island, landing on the western edge of the landmass. Where they landed they marked out the site of what became Kal'Valen; the seaside fortress that was meant to house the clan for decades to come. With the Adunians the Grandaxes established friendship and they agreed to work together to bring the island under firm control of the two. The first issue arose with a town south of Kal'Valen ran by Thoromir Armahnk, the past enemy of the Grandaxe clan in Athera. After gaining intelligence about Thoromir inviting Oren to conquer the island, Fimlin brought a squadron of clanmates to occupy the town and oust Thoromir, who eventually accepted.

For a while after that there was peace on Avar, however the many plans and projects the clan and the Adunians had soon fell apart when they began to run out of resources and a general decrease of population. Eventually a new leader rose in the Adunians who announced their abandonment of Hiraeth and their move to Oren. Hearing this Fimlin then absorbed his former friends state into his own, before granting the land in Hiraeth to Drynn Ireheart. Fimlin also granted his longtime friend Zahrer Irongrinder the former town Thoromir ruled over, where he built Fort Järnstrand.

The clan's population further dwindled, and so did Fimlin's ability to run the clan and so Fimlin appointed Heus Grandaxe as the new Clan Father.

A while more passed with relative quiet until Drynn Ireheart sold his land to Thoromir Armahnk. The Grandaxes, alarmed at this prepared to force Thoromir out of the land because the clan was not consulted about the transaction. The Grand King however, then Rhewen Frostbeard forbid the Grandaxes from doing so do to threats from the Horde of Dunamis, a group of skilled Mercenaries. Thus the clan was forced to sit and wait, anticipating the newfound Jarldom of Norland to betray them.

The clan's predictions were not far off, for when the 6th Dwarf-Oren war broke out and Rhewengrad was taken and Khro'Nagaak besieged the Norlanders switched their side and allowed Oren a landing point. The Grandaxes, infuriated blamed this on the Grand King but swore to purge Avar of the Norlanders; raiding their city of Seahelm many times and rescuing kidnapped dwarves. The dwarven and Grandaxe navy was able to blockade Norland for a while until the Orenian navy arrived and slew the dwarven sailors by boarding their ships in great number.

With Oren now on Avar the dwarves retreated to Järnstrand, which was eventually captured by Oren in the ensuing siege. The only remaining holding both the dwarves and the clan had was Kal'Valen, the home of the Grandaxes. A valiant defense was carried out by the Dwarven Legion, causing the Orenian army many casualties was eventually forced to flee across the sea back to Kal'Akash.

And so was the fall of Avar, the last of the Grandaxe holds, bringing the clan back to the capital to stay.

Velwyn pens another poem.

Fimlin Grandaxe the King of the gingers,

Jorik Grand Marshal the victory bringer,

Fili the fat who hides in the shallows,

Valen the mailman who leads from the shadows.

Thorik King who put the Grand in our nation,

Thorin the golem who claims it was his invention,

Bazian the father who raised our great clan,

Wulfgar the zion who broke oren down,

Arcane was old and grouchy like Hiebe,

Torvin was mad and had a tendency to steal things,

Vorstag was rash and enjoyed a bleachy drink,

Gimrik was slain by Gorum and his clique.
