Life in Undeath

“May you conclude your living duties, for, in Undeath, you will covet mortality.”

Adorellan, ushering a solemn prayer to the recently deceased Nazdus Tundrak.

Through the decrepit halls of a cavern over yonder, a haggard trio clad in rigid clothing to thwart the boreal valleys’ harsh climate, shifting their attention to one another, the looming, prevalent figure would stride forth with his right limb elevated- casting his calloused palm along the wall to unveil a hidden entrance, and the trio would proceed through the winding halls. The dim torchlight flickering briefly with a subtle hue, its dulled embers providing enough light for the trio to see, but allow their malformed figures to distort with the cruel gloom of the cavern.

Eventually, they would pause, an aurum pillar situated atop the earth, jagged and deformed, it was almost as if someone had melted a grandiose pile of raw gold. With a corpse sat at its base, pallid with several, fatal wounds marking its frame. Empty, gaping holes, a reminder of what once was, whilst flesh dangles from its innards, and his stomach split from side-to-side. The trio cast a glance to one another, inclining their heads whilst elevating their limbs respectively, applying their palms to the gold.

A necrotic smog would manifest betwixt their digits, spewing forth to seep into the refined ore, steadily coercing along its frame; several, minuscule, albeit noticeable wisps would latch onto the ivory corpse, perhaps more commonly renown as the once beloved Prince of the Snow Elven kinsmen, Prince Nazdus Tundrak. Slain at the hands of the tenebrous demon, a successor to where others have failed, a blighted creature to adorn the mantle it was so justly due.

Atop the pillar amassed a rigid tool, steadily forming upright as the life-force coerced along the framework of the aurum pillar, coiling around the bulking, refined mineral, eternally shifting, and warping with a sickening aura to it, the trio would respectively show their own signs of fatigue, the tenebrous demon with his frame hunched, and his breathing laboured, the concealed elfess dribbling sweat from her maw and forehead alike, whilst the last would stagger, exhaling heavy breaths.

Eventually, the trio would conclude, and the tool atop the golden pillar had formed into a phylactery, which was promptly retrieved by the Daeva as he’d steadily retract, dragging his attention downward to the shifting corpse- life sparked anew amidst its decaying body.

“Arise,”

He muttered, furrowing his brows whilst his gaze shifted into a glower, and upon his own accord did the corpse arise, retaining its silence as it investigated its own corpse-like stature. Eventually, he would bring his attention upon his murderer, whatever flesh remained upon its face contorting into an expression of raw ire.

“You may have your lifeline, but you’ve one task to accomplish, then you’re a free man.”

“Succeed where others have failed, we’re at war, and fallacies must perish.”

This was ONE sentence.
