Power

“Far, in the land of the ice and snow, the power you seek resides.”

The Alt’yaika are an obscure species of apparent demons that appeared during Athera. Their most notable of sightings was their assault on the then home of the Braduk clan – the Doomfort. In what would become a famous battle Kahn’Braduk slew an Alt’yaika alpha, ending the assault. It should be noted that in the process Kahn was nearly torn in two.

The ‘demons’ were not seen for centuries following this altercation; despite the Braduk clan’s efforts to track them. It wasn’t until the Braduk Wargoth’s bargaining with Ixli that he gained the knowledge of their whereabouts, and a power the Alt’yaika possessed. Enticed, Kahn, Ghazkoth, Korack and Raugrimm set out. This time, they’d be the ones attacking.

Axios – Somewhere in the Ice Plains

The sharp chill of the frosty air kissed the four Braduk’s thick hides, their breath puffing out before them in clouds of vapour. They sat astride their great rhinos, prodding along the snow for a time.

“We’re here.” The Warlord said plainly, dismounted with the three other Orcs following. Kahn unhooked his twin axes, Gorefather and Gorechild, - the blades of which comprised of the serrated teeth of the fallen Alt’yaika demon he had killed. Ghazkoth readied his axe Hellscream, and as the remaining to Orcs partook in a similar way a distinct feeling of being watched washed over the four of them. “Stay close.” The trek had to be continued on foot for the downward sloping path that lay before them would be too difficult for a rhino to traverse. They pressed on in spite of this, hiking through the thick snow before coming to a riverbank.

“Where from here?” Ghazkoth asked, giving a thick exhale. Kahn paced into the icey water, wasting little time. The other three followed suit. Lesser beings would have frozen to death – yet the Braduks were determined. Their wet journey was disrupted by hundreds of high pitch screeches binding together to form a terrifying crescendo that threatened to split the eardrum – it was the Alt’yaika. According to Braduk records Alt’yaika could be separated into two categories; lesser demons and alphas. What the four Orcs saw was a horde of the lesser creatures, swarming overhead upon a large stony bridge that ascended so high it disappeared within the clouds.  Kahn clanged his war axes together, the echo thundering towards the demons. They scattered, creating a part in the sky which gave way to a mighty looking alpha demon flying forth. It perched itself upon one of the bridges support structures. “That the alpha?” Ghaz questioned.

As if on cue, three more demons of an identical appearance emerged, perching beside the pre-existing one. Alphas, it would seem. Kahn released his signature ear-splitting high-pitched war cry, spurring the fight into action. One of the alphas immediately descended for him with an ensconcement of lesser demons surrounding it - the small horde took Kahn in all of their talons and latched into the Wargoth before flying away. Kahn had been taken. Ghazkoth Korack and Raugrimm attempted to pursue but were halted by the remaining three alphas engaging them.

The alpha set upon Ghazkoth, taking the large Warmachine of the Braduks in it’s talons and beginning to fly away. The favoured son of Leyd would not be so easily absconded with however. He began by launching haymakers into the demons side – it’s hide was as hard as steel meaning that no pain was inflicted, however the force from Ghazkoth’s power sent the demon of course and resulted in it loosening its’s grip. Ever the opportunist, Ghazkoth pivoted about in the demons grasp and maneuvered onto it’s back. He grabbed its wing and twisted it violently – the demon began to veer and soon crashed into the bridge before falling to the ground in a heap. As the Alt’yaika broke his fall, Ghazkoth returned to his feet quickly and began stamping his armoured boot into the monsters skull. Once, twice, crunch. This alpha had been slain.

Meanwhile, a second alpha had nose-dived toward Korack whom had amidst the commotion found himself within the waters of the neighboring lake – colliding with the Orc the two forms sunk into the watery depths. Struggling in the depths, the demon began to ascend to the surface but was brought to a halted by Korack who shoved the monster back under and into the water whilst maintaining his own body above the waterline so that he wouldn’t drown. This continued for a time, Korack’s strength keeping the alpha pressed as it began to intake water but eventually the larger creature prevailed – the demon pushing itself out of the water and into the air with Korack still on it’s back. Gaining a foothold the young Braduk took his mace and bludgeoned the Alt’yaika in the back of the skull causing it to quickly spiral to the ground before it could reach any great height. Surfing upon its posterior side, once the mass of demonic flesh came to a halt Korack pummeled his mace once more into its head, and twice again – it’s skulled caved. Another alpha slain.

As all this was taking place Raugrimm had engaged the second demon, exchanging blows. Every strike the Orc made merely bounced off the demon’s hide, and once it had gotten fed up with being struck it wrapped up the young Braduk and took flight. Almost as quickly as it took off, Raugrimm writhed free from the demon’s grasp and plunged into the icy waters bellow – the demon proceeded to dive bomb. Anticipating such an attack, Raugrimm tried to dodge but was too late, the Alt’yaika flying into his body; talons-first. In a flurry of tears the alpha-demon began goring at Raugrimm’s midriff, it’s talons cutting into his ribs. A reprieve was offered however with Ghazkoth taking hold of the demons tail which distracted it. Raugrimm forced his way free and swam ashore – Ghazkoth and Korack joined together to pull the large Alt’yaika from the water and onto the banks. Raugrimm, despite his injures struck the demon upon the head and in one strike slew it. The alphas were dead.

The three Braduks quickly harvested the three dead demons bodied, adding their sharp ornaments to their weapons. They looked about the area.

“We need to find Kahn.” Korack said, gripping his now demon tooth-enlaced mace. Before any could respond, the ground seemed to shake as a deathly roar bellowed through the snowy valley.

“Come on.” Ghazkoth ordered, running to the source of the noise. The trio soon came to a cave where they saw a sight that would strike fear into even the bravest of warriors – an Alt’yaika demon perhaps five times the size of the previous alphas; its eyes glowed a vibrant fluorescent green and fire breathed from its maw of a similar colour. It was the Alt’yaika’s Overlord.

Not shaken, Ghazkoth led the charge flanked by Korack and Raugrimm. In response the Overlord shot balls of fire at the three Orcs – they all missed. Leaping into the air Ghazkoth sunk his axe deep into the monstrous demon’s flesh, so deep that it stuck. Screeching viscously the Overlord took the Warmachine in it’s hands and pummeled him down into the earth, leaving Ghaz in a crater on the ground. Raugrimm sent a flurry of strikes at the Overlords midsection, a few landing flush but most made no significant impact and only enraged the beast. Whipping it’s tail through the air and then into Raugrimm, the Overlord sent him flying into the base of a mountain the caressed the opening of the cave. Ghazkoth began staggering to his feet. In response the Overlord sent a fireball at him, the flame striking the large Orc’s hand and promptly burning it off. Korack meanwhile slid across the ground aiming to skate beneath the demon and strike at its underbelly – he found no such success however as the Alt’yaika lord stamped it’s foot down and crushed him. Ghazkoth – taking a page from his brother Kahn’s book – flew through the air and struck the Overlord with a superman punch, the sheer unrelenting power of wish sent the demon stagger into the wall behind it and freeing Korack. Korack returned to his feet and began charging at the stunned Alt’yaika and as he garnered airtime Ghazkoth tossed him his axe. Korack caught it and in a fluid motion opened a large gash across the demons forehead. As if a choreographed maneuverer, this time Ghazkoth flew through the air as Korack alley-ooped him his axe…

Snuffed of life, the Overlord collapsed to the ground dead with bright acidic green blood leaking and pooling from it. With the depths of the cave exposed, the three wounded yet victorious Braduks could then see Kahn’Braduk, Gorefather and Gorechild in hand awash in Alt’yaika blood with half a dozen alpha demons slaughtered about the place. They were lucky to come across him in the waning stages of his bloodlust.

“How good of you to join me.” The Wargoth jested. Ghazkoth grunted, gesturing to the fallen Overlord.

“I could say the same to you.” Putting his axes away, Kahn took out a rhino-horn cup, kneeling before the demon blood.

“This is the power we were promised. The Drok’Orka.” Taking a scoopful Kahn rose, and after a brief moment of hesitation downed the blood in a single gulp. He immediately convulsed and dropped to his knees, his veins pressing against his skin. His muscles tensed tightly – seeming to grow in size as his overall body mass started to increase. His skin began turning a sickly green as his tusks enlarged. His muscles continuing to engorge much of his armour plates split asunder – horrifyingly, the bullhead and spines that Kahn wore on his shoulders morphed into his skin in a slimy acidic process before they physically became apart of his body. After a time, Kahn settled and he rose…the giant Orc had grown.

Ghazkoth was next to drink, Korack and Raugrimm following thereafter. Too, they all grew in size and mass. Ghazkoth’s countless bone shards piercing his skin became literal spikes that were apart of him, bone-spokes stabbed out of his elbows and his shoulders from seemingly nowhere – but what was perhaps even more fear inducing was the demon-like talons that sprung from the stump where his hand used to be. Korack twisted on the ground as decrepit bone spikes shot from his spine in terrifying fashion, protruding from it’s back. The many horns stabbing from his head grew immensely in size and oddly, Korack’s black birthmark residing on his face began to contort and move vividly without end as if it were alive.

A demon corrupted Kahn'Braduk upon consuming the 'Drok'Orka'

A voice echoed through the cave, paradoxically thin yet powerful.

“Take this power beneath the earth to tear the worlds asunder.”

Kahn snarled, the now demon corrupted Orc’s looking at the remaining demon blood.

“Gather the rest. We are one step closer to the great sacrifice. Nagijak Urukim.”
