What is roleplaying?: Roleplaying is acting out a character as if they and the world around them were real, taking on a persona and interacting with others, never breaking the fourth wall.

What is metagaming?: Metagaming is using out-of-character information to assist you in-character, essentially cheating and circumventing the discovering of information in-character.

What is power-emoting (powergaming)?: Power-emoting is forcing an action on another player without giving them the opportunity to interject or affect the outcome of the action, such as beheading a player in one swing.

 

In-Character Information

Now you actually make your character - be creative but stay reasonable! Make sure they make sense and that they follow lore. Try to come up with a character that you actually want to play.

Biography  (Please make it a decent two paragraphs long. Remember to add three references to the server lore): (where does your character come from?; where have they traveled to?; what year were they born in? et cetera.) Born in Johannesburg, Zorak soon moved with his family to Bastion, where he spent most of his youth. Life for him involved preparing dinner for his father before he returned from work, tending to his mother who had gone blind at an early age, and practicing his painting skills in the attic of their family home. He would paint on old bed sheets, scrap papers, canvases (if he could find them), and whatever else he could get his hands on. Life wasn’t a breeze, but he had it better than some, and he knew it. This changed when the Undead struck fear and destruction into the citizens of Bastion, Zorak included.

 

With his childhood home plunged into the darkness of the Undead, Zorak found refuge in Metz, and took up various jobs in the city, helping part-time as a field hand, doing repair work on the docks, whatever he could find to cover the cost of living. He is determined not to let Metz fall into darkness just as Bastion did, and, despite being a clumsy fighter, he will fight to defend his new hometown from any possible attackers. He hopes to raise a family in Metz, and will not let his future children endure what he did as a boy. Whether things will change, only time can tell...

Personality Traits: (what are your character's quirks?; habits?; likes and dislikes?) Very loyal, sometimes ridiculously so, he often finds himself taking the blame for something he didn’t do just to protect his friends.

Ambitions: (what does your character aspire to be?) Zorak aspires to continue his family lineage and father many sons.

Strengths/Talents: (what is your character really, really good at?) Surprisingly adept with a paintbrush, Zorak found himself learning to paint at a young age, and has now developed a mastery for it.

Weaknesses/Inabilities: (what is a skill that your character needs to work on?) Poor at fighting (though not due to lack of effort), Zorak often finds himself too clumsy to be an effective fighter.

Appearance: (what does your character look like?; how tall are they?; hair color?; scars?) Brown hair, blue eyes, lanky build, light skin.
