What is Roleplaying?: Roleplaying is making a character and placing yourself in their shoes. You interact in the IC world as your character would, and you are removed from your character (the roleplayer and the character being different entities entirely)

What is Metagaming?: Metagaming is using information IC that you learned OOC. For instance, using a character's name IC even if you have not met them or learned their named IC'ly.

What is Power-emoting (Powergaming)?: Powergaming is forcing your characters actions upon another character or person, not allowing others to react to your IC actions, or making your character overpowered.

Character’s name: Roland Servatius

Biography: Born in Auguston in 1611, Roland Servatius was the first of three children. The Servatius' were not a rich family, but Roland hardly knew want as a child, as his father was a well-off merchant. Roland endured a relatively normal childhood, though unlike most Heartlander young men, he did not find himself very interested in learning basic combat skills, and as such fell behind the other boys in that way. What interested Roland more than fighting and swords, were things like magic and history, of which he could never learn enough to satisfy himself. His interests took a scholarly route as he grew into an adolescent, however his ever-stern father pressed him to contribute to the Empire. At this point, Roland decided he would study alchemy and medicine, and perhaps in these fields he could help his fellow countrymen. At the ripe age of eighteen, Roland moved to Adelburg in the year 1629 to practice medicine. With the small sum of money he made from this business, Roland decided that he could not bear to sit in the capital as the world went on around him. He set off to travel Tahn, hoping to learn as much as he could on his way. He did this for more than a decade, using his knowledge and skills in alchemy and medicine to provide for himself on his travels. However, Roland returns now to an Adelburg that rests under new banners, and he's empty-handed and with little money.

 

Personality Traits: Roland is not an exceedingly warm person, not one for extensive social interactions or niceties. He prefers to associate with those he can either take advantage of, or those who he sees as an intellectual equal or superior. (Sorry for formatting, bold is being weird for me!)

Ambitions: He currently is looking to find a stable income for himself, whether that be putting his knowledge to use or not. Long-term, he will likely find himself getting into politics or seeking higher knowledge.

Strengths/Talents: Roland has a knack for achemy and medicine, though he enjoys most scholarly activities, along with politics and business. That being said, he believes that his mind is truly his greatest weapon.

Weaknesses/Inabilities: Fighting is not a strongsuit of Roland's, and he can be considered quite greedy (power, money, knowledge, etc.).

Appearance: He is a heartlander of average height and a build on the thinner side. He has a trimmed beard and short, brown hair. His eyes might be his most striking feature, which seem to be an emerald green. Clothing-wise, he's often seen in garb that might be worn by scholars, and sometimes even nobles.
