Upon ragged parchments, modest mass-produced prints would find their way into the hands of the dwarven denizens of Atlas. The standardized dwarven runes, serifed and printed neatly by woodblock cascade down the pages like water off a cliff. The diatribe reads:

For all of those who today still trace their lineage back to Urguan Silverbeard, father of fathers, prophet of YEMEKARR, and our eternal Paragon,

May this missive find you well! The fruits of this new land are ripe and yet unpicked, and we hope that Armakak looks over your shoulder constantly as you labor in these rich fields and mines. Yes, for in our freedom all fruit are twice-sweet, and all wealth is twice-valuable! Far and wide the Free Dwarves of YEMEKARR rejoice in their newly-found liberty, worshipping the Brathmordakin fiercely through craft and artistry and basking in their favor as independent men. A blissful equilibrium. Yet one so easily threatened.

To think that this has always been the case is a false and wrongful conception. Indeed, to take this blissful status of natural balance for given is blasphemy ‘gainst the work of YEMEKARR himself! Today, the Dwedmar are unhindered by the chains of those who wish to manipulate them. They dance not when the strings are pulled, for there are no strings. They yelp not at the crack of their masters’ whips, for there are no masters and no whips. It is easily forgotten amidst this divine bliss that, ‘till yesterday, the Dwedmar lived a different life. They lived a life of vicarious degeneracy, for their corrupt clergy condoned communion with Khorvad. They lived a life of repression, for the tyrannical oligarchy of the Old Kingdom quashed all ambition and sowed seeds of coal in its place. Oh, how the Dwedmar toiled under those chains they themselves had fashioned! Until yesterday they toiled such!

For until yesterday, there existed an idea: and this idea was the Grand Kingdom of Urguan.

Aye! From but a single idea did the Dwedmar suffer! And what was this idea? It was more than that of a nation: nae, for if the idea of nation were damned then the Dwedmar of Kaz’Ulrah would be equally damned. Surely, this is not the case. It was more than that of a united military: how could our kind suffer from increased security and camaraderie? The idea in question was one of false promise and bitter deception; it was the impossible idea of a centralized unified state for all dwarves to live under, despite their diversity and YEMEKARR-given vibrancy.

Some look at that time with nostalgia and say, “Ah, now that was a good time!” But they remember only the scarce good and ignore the copious bad. Some wish to re-create a newly unified dwarven nation, believing it to be the path forward. Yet they do not understand that they commit an age-old mistake. They do not understand they fall for a trap of Khorvad bred from perennial hubris: for how many times have prior dwarves tried this same unification? They do not understand they inadvertently recreate a newly branded version of the Grand Debauchery of Urguan. Unwittingly, they commit this sin, and engage in the same foolishness as our ancestors.

I have heard some claim that YEMEKARR’s will demands a single dwarven kingdom. Yet they are naive. YEMEKARR demands balance, and no single Dwarven State can offer this balance: by definition, more than one object is needed for balance to be presented, for balance is divinely relative. I have heard yet others justify this “reunification” on basis of the late High King Verthaik’s final wishes. But Verthaik was the nail in Urguan’s coffin: surely, his words have been misconstrued! However, amidst all this noise and clamour, one thing does call my attention ever more constantly and strongly than others: I hear the call to reunify the idea of the Grand Idiocy of Urguan. Such calls are dangerous.

Oh Dwarves, hear these words! Take them into consideration, and meditate upon them! What service would a single unified dwarven nation do to our kindred? Have we not the vitality to generate constructive competition? Have we not the piety necessary to keep our religion cohesive and orthodox? Have we not the ability to muster our forces for the greater good when necessary? Aye, by YEMEKARR’s mandate we do!

We need no single ruler to “unify” our race. We need no single banner to rally for! Our strength lies in our diversity, and our vigour comes from our freedom! Oh Sons of Urguan, fall not for this age-old temptation. Remain united in Confederation ONLY, and let not the strings and whips be reapplied to your flesh! Do not let your freedom be bought for a price of gold and for a promise of naught!

Benjamin W. Goldhand reads the parchment carefully, unconciously flipping a gold Mina as he does. While he is not well read, and some words do confuse him, he finishes the cleverly worded document. Afterwards the young Dwarf begins to rummage in his desk drawers, attempting to find his quill and paper. Once he does, he begins to record his thoughts on the matter of the reformation of Urguan itself.

"This recent document that was distributed en masse has stirred an awakening of memories and thoughts in my old head. I implore my kinsmen to gaze upon these documents and find their own path, but take heed of the wise words present. The old Grand Kingdom was structured to support a council of rotational shadow rulers, whispering words ruled the minds of whichever figure head gained the people's attention best. The idea to return to this structure is to reward the vices and sins against YEMEKARR himself that these shadow councils continued.

NO, I say. It is time the people under YEMEKARR rejoice in their differences and create holds of dwed that span the misty mountains and rich valleys that YEMEKARR so finely crafted. Unification eliminates competition, creates stagnation, and allows Khorvad's shadow to grow again into his shadow council. Stand firm brothers and sisters. I urge you to stand behind the people's King and honor the work of Verthaik himself, the destroyer of chains and the light that shone against Khorvad's shadow council.

Let Kaz'Ulrah stand strong and never allow the shadow of the Grand Kingdom of Urguan to return.

Kalviin laughed as he read over the parchment, his expression growing more serious as he read through it, he'd speak his mind when he'd finished reading "You speak so much of unity and Urguan but your nation was the one that spit on our kingdom and ruined the unity we fought to uphold. . . The frostbeard clan so gutless it would rather leave and vassal under humans for land to build upon, than to stand united with the dwarven kingdom and uphold our ancient traditions. Kazulrah was built on betrayal. . . I know not if I can rejoin my kin without much ill will towards many that live within its walls." he'd cast the parchment out, his expression changed drastically as his eyes began to water, showing clearly the actions he'd spoke on truly hurt him.

It is you that has split us. . . It is you that must unite.

Bogmir Irongut claps.

Urguan was just as bad as Ulrah. Dwarves have clamored for change and strong leadership, but what they get is old greybeards controlling the kingdoms with a shadow government.

Dwarves shall find their way with or without a kingdom or king. The real strength is the clans and the clansmen who defend their lands with pride and vigor.

Dwain Irongut says after he reads the parchment his clansmen made and from the Goldhand. His words are only heard to those on Holmos.
