Bitter Past

Recommended Posts

Carsandra sat in the Cloud Temple tavern, writing down the thick old tomes that were spread across the large table. The Mali was hard at work, ever working, since still no word from the rescue party had reached her ears. Her time was spent working, either by herself or with other people.

A male blond figure entered the tavern, her gaze looked up, and fear snaked through her heart. The man who had killed her, and ate her, stood at the entrance. He gave a big smile when seeing her.

“Carsandra Ivydale.” His voice was a titter, the years of insanity had chipped away at his senses and vocal cords.

“What do you want?” She glared at him, the spell over Cloud Temple making it impossible for her to react violently.

“...Nothing? I just wanted to say hi, see how you where doing.”

“Then explain why you’re here, because you killed and ate me, and that morning you confessed to me you were a cannibal.” Her eyes narrowed, mistrust laced in them.

He stumbled back a bit, shock in his eyes “W...what?! I would never do that to somebody I lo-...like. I haven’t eaten anybody in Axios.”

“Well, you did. You ate me.” She huffs.

“Carsandra..” He moved forth, a pleading look in his eyes, “I promise I didn’t kill you!”

“All of those years that I lost with him..” her hand clenched, “Those I trusted let me down, and your entire group of friends have left me, one attempted to kill me in Holm.”

“Carsandra, I love you!” He blurted, passion ringing in his voice, “I would never hurt you! I was there when Rhil-”

“DONT. SAY. HIS. NAME!” She shouted, rising, and placing her hands on the table. The spell quickly erased all of the feelings bubbling inside of her, forcing her to be calm.

“Everything I tried to hide in past-”

“It’s too late to make it ok, with every old lie you’ve told, how can I trust again?”

“Can you learn to forgive...please..”

“How could your friends turn away from me..?” Tears glittered in her emerald eyes, gazing him down.

He got down on his knees, looking up to her with tears in his eyes. “I was blinded, I believed all those pretty lies. Please, I Kauli, beg for your forgiveness. How can I fix this?! I know I messed up, please just tell me!”

She was silent, staring down at him. “I don’t deserve this, none of this that happened. You, and your friends caused this.” Anger bubbled, twisting her face. “Ceasar, Garoll, you, Rhillen, Ehier, Morgan, Talos..you’ve caused me so much pain, and you think you can fix it?!”

“It doesn’t work that way Carsandra..please..remember when we sat in my house and had coffee and just chatted..? Remember I saved you? Remember when cooked me food?”

She closed her eyes, exhaling. “We both know, sorrow and regret. They denied-”

“I’m only trying to do what’s best for us!”

She marched over, glared directly in his eyes, “Well I never asked for this, I never wanted this, all that I wanted was a family!” Tears would start leaking in a small amount down her face.

“Look into your heart...see? I saved a duckling today! If my words can’t do anything, then my actions will!” He said, hope in his eyes, to which she stared him down, and he wilted a bit.

“...Cease your empty plead. Your always trying to be somebody else.”

“But I’m right here by your side!”

“But all that you’ve done is lie! There’s nothing you can say.”

“You still do not understand..”

“I do not care about understanding! Get away from me!”

He slowly, and dejectedly got to his feet, shuffling off slowly. “This is the last time you’ll see me, Van’ayla..”
