The Superior Commander

In order to determine the most competent battle commander within the Earldom a contest shall be held between Thane Ryon Errmark Arden and Chieftain Jorvik Eiriksson Rorik. This contest shall determine who is the superior military administrator and tactical commander so that the Earl may choose the most qualified man to serve as the Marshal of Nordengrad. The contest shall be as follows. An open field skirmish between the clan fyrds of both houses. Essentially serving as a non lethal showcase of a clan feud.

 

Rules

1. No Foreign Mercenaries shall be tolerated

2. Only clans bound with marriage may be called to assist

3. Padded armour shall be used

4. No bows or arrows shall be used

5. Wooden clubs shall be used

6. Cavalry are permitted

7. Small fortifications are permitted in the form of basic trenches but no gates or doors will be permitted

8. All Oathmen must be introduced to the Earl, not ‘Oathmen’ will be allowed. They must be legitimately oathed to the service of the clan. This is not only a test in tactics but of the marshalling of forces and the supplying of them.

9. The Battle shall take place two harvest cycles from now. (Nov 6th)

 

The Battle shall take place at the field beyond the Ardenhall and the Grimlee Wheat Vault. Both commanders will be attending a coin toss of a Nordengradic Half mark. That toss shall determine who gets the first choice of land wherein they may prepare their defences respectively.

Jorik Rorik would read over this leaving some lingering questions in the room" Are shields permitted?" He'd say than going back to the part where it said this is a test of tactics noticing that the tactics were limited" ahhhhhh, no traps, no bows. I disagree but Roriks will still come atop
