The Dreadrot Plague

Image result for Black death concept art

”Plague victims piled onto a cannonist cross to be disposed of.”

The robed figure stood over a table littered with scraps of parchment and half-written books, the air within the catacombs stank of charnel rot from his most recent experiments. The attack on the imperial courthouse had been a success, while the corpses he raised from Belvitz did die their true deaths , it had only given the man more insight as to the frailty of his minions. He recalled seeing what they saw and hearing the men whirl about, screaming and cursing before hurriedly bashing the skulls of his risen dead in. He delighted in such panic for it mean’t little to him, he would have them in their clutches one way or another, in life if not in death.

He recalled the incident well, the swords he had given his troops had somehow flared to unholy half-life, as if whatever remained in their withered husks infected the very blades they wielded with malice. He remembered seeing the blade rust the knight’s bracers where it struck and smiled a death’s head smile. They would know his power, the empire would fall and his master would have his revenge against the children of Horen. He cared not how he did it, so long as their world burned. For now, his sights were turned to a peculiar town in the swampy regions of the north. They had defied their tenets and to his satisfaction provided him with the champion he needed, he let out a slight cackle and turned to a cage. Inside the cage was a small child, it looked at him with dread and he saw only weakness. This child would unleash his gift upon all the children of Horen, a beautiful canker like none the world had ever seen before.

The cauldron bubbled, reeking fat dribbled over the edge every so often and then sizzled to the ground. Various pustules each the size of an apple had risen amid the vile broth. The figure stood over the cauldron and began emptying vials into the pestilent soup, marveling at the smell as if he were a chef making a fine dish. He gestured and a thin skeleton opened the cage holding the small child, it grabbed the child by the neck and dunked it into the cauldron. It shrieked and whirled, attempting to escape. The old man plunged the child’s head down into the broth and merely smiled. “Drink it all up, it’ll be faster that way”. Arms flailed around and in mere minutes ceased their movement, they sank into the cauldron and melted to mere bone. The Necromancer plunged a fist into the cauldron and grabbed the skull of the child, using it as a bowl to pour it into the waiting mouth of his wailing mother. With glee, he knocked her out and sent her out into the world.

There would be death, the world would reek of grave stink and the dead would rise at his command. The sea would shift, it would empty and she would come to die at last. The trap had already been sprung eons ago, the master only needed an opening.

((OOC))

A follow up to some RP I did a while ago, the plague isn’t LT approved and no one has to RP it or even acknowledge it. I don’t care what people say since it’s entirely up to players if they want to do anything with this, this is RP in its purest form and should be taken lightly, it’s not an event team event either but a “player event” and should be treated as such. I’m giving ya’ll a story and would be delighted if you took part in it.

Symptoms:  Black cysts that burst when touched, high fever and the coughing of blood. Victims die within a few elven days and the cure is yet not known, basically.. It’s the black death in its most virulent form and therefore doesn’t need approval to be RP’ed. Have fun!
