The morning broke with a crisp fog slowly lifting from the ground, the cockrells clucking and the townsfolk beginning to stir. Soon the town began to spring into life as farmers pulled along carts to the nearest farms and others conversing in the tavern. The Duke and his aidee venturing around the duchy, speaking with his people. However something was amiss, large portions of the roads in the city were overgrown with grass and leaves overnight. A truly mysterious occurrence indeed.

The Archbishop joined the Duke as they began to survey the roads, making note of which ones needed pruning, and so carts of supplies were wheeled in as Humpfrey went back to the church to get a shovel. They then reconvened at the main square, the biggest patch of grass and bushes. Humpfrey began to shovel away the grass and pull out the bushes from the fresh soil, unearthing a small cave in the process.

However this did not deter him, after showing the Duke this cave he would continue to remove the grass, vines and bushes, after such he would begin laying down the road foundations. He did this with every patch of road that was overgrown until all of the roads were clear and easy to view. After completing this task Humpfrey dusted of his hands and gathered the townsfolk to utter a prayer on the newly laid path.

“O’ Godani I call unto you now, do watch over your faithful flock of Belvitzia. I ask that you keep these roads clear from debris and hastily-growing vegetation so that your children can travel freely and spread you good word unto all.”

“Amen.”

Zrarly wonders why this information is of the upmost importance to hear. For he has never seen the Kastrovats brag about keeping the roads maintained, despite them doing this much more often than the Bishop would.
