Statement to the Haenseti People

       To Haense and it’s wonderful people- It is no secret that I am currently in the race for Alderman. The position of alderman has long been one of great esteem in this nation we hold so dear, a way for the people to voice their concerns within the Government, a position of honor and respect. Without this, everyday folk in Haense, the backbone of the very walls we live in, would have no voice within the Duma chamber! As a result, this position is one highly sought after within the Kingdom. I’d like to take a moment to congratulate Dame Primrose Kortrevich in yet another victory, and have no doubt that she will represent our people with unfaltering dedication, as she always has within the Duma.

 

       The question now, my brothers and sisters, is who shall join her within the chamber. My adversary is no stranger to Haense, serving in the Brotherhood as long as I have known her, and remains as loyal as ever. I wish her the best of luck in this race, and take pride in knowing that no matter who the people decide, they will be well represented within the Chamber. I speak to you today to voice what I hope, seek, and drive to accomplish within the Duma if I am so blessed as to be chosen for the position by the people of Haense. My goal is a simple one, simple yet pure. It is no secret we are at war, as we have been for a few years now. This very thought echoes through Haense, it whistles like the wind through our streets, it lives in the shadows of every cranny. Because of this, I seek to raise morale within the city as well as strengthening our city. As of now, I am working with current and long standing Duma representative, Aedan Capulei, in which he has asked for my help and voice on bills he is planning to present. The question becomes, how do we accomplish this? The key word of that sentence, of course, is ‘we’. If elected, this position will not be my own, no- I will share it with every man, woman, and child in Haense who seeks a voice within the Duma. How do we, as citizens, unite together to combat this threat, to preserve our glorious culture?

 

       The answer to this question is always up for debate, but I firmly believe that I have a solution. A series of events to promote unity and brotherhood! I will be shortly hosting a dance, a masquerade specifically, but with a catch- There will be a dancing competition. Bring your dance partner and your best dance moves to the floor, and show the judges your talent! But did you really think that would be all? Of course not! Many more events are in the works, including the first Haensetian scavenger hunt in years! As a proud people, secluded to our city in this time of war, we must make the most of the situation and show the pagans we have not lost our spirit! 

 

       However, this alone cannot end this war. With the help and assistance of Aedan Capulei, Henrik Vanir, Erwin Barclay, and the great members of our army, a training schedule will be set to make sure our men are at their best to defend our nation. The first of these trainings was hosted today (9th of the Deep Cold, 1743) with great success, which saw a friendly competition between brotherhood members, with our Lady Maer and the Commandant Tharik Sturmholm in attendance! These trainings aim to reinforce our nation in its fight against the pagans. But we are not in this war alone my friends, no, we fight for our Empire, with our steadfast allies. Trade and communication is crucial within the Empire if we are to win this war, which is why I seek to increase trade between the kingdoms, through the addition of newer, quicker trade routes, renovation of Haensetian farms, as well as hoping to create a more efficient rally and patrol system, so that our roads are protected, and our borders secure.

 

       The position of Alderman is one I have yearned for since a child, since I was a small boy sitting at the table, listening to stories of the Duma, and what my parents had to say on the most recent legislation. I was born with the blood of a Haenseman in me, and it is my hope that you share my dream, a dream of a strong, unified Haense, fighting against those who seek to destroy us.
