A Knight Ascends to the Seven

Sir Alexander, on the Athera Expedition:

 

“We made our way toward the infested city of Petrus - we the Orenian and Haenseti forces flanked by Calvary and His Imperial Majesty. I took the first watch with Saalih and Julietta, watching our surroundings while we advanced toward the city. Upon our arrival at the gate, a hideous golem beast awaited us on the bridge, towering over the walls itself. We positioned the cannons behind our barricades, ensuring we couldn’t be attacked from the front and sides while we bombarded the city. Most of the initial projectiles did little to nothing to injure the beast. I made my way to the gunners line, swayed off the incompetent recruits loading the cannon with too little powder and too many projectiles, and filled it properly. Rylan, being to my right on the next cannon, did the same. As we both were trained in siegecraft back home, looked to each other and nodded, before taking aim and firing. Our shots landed precisely, entering and exiting the beast perfectly, before crumbling down into the water below. 

 

We advanced on the city, formed up as one joint body, sword and shield and marching into the damned city, taking down the undead warriors with ease. Upon entering, we were met with more creatures, these stronger than those before, better armed and taller than those we faced on the bridge. Bright flashes of white and silver lit the sky, a barrage of lightning surrounding us as we advanced.”

“Sir Alexander thought it best to scout ahead and see what dangers awaited us. Upon closer inspection, one would notice that most of the undead force was already advancing toward our force, but at the entrance to the palisade a woeful beast - a creature the size of a Helenan Manor, in the shape of a giant eyeball. The lightning struck faster and faster and the creatures sped up their advance, nearly overrunning our forces. In a second of thought, Sir Alexander made his way around the beast, careful not to be noticed by the beings. In a moment of sheer will and might, one would hear a voice bellow out from behind the Eye, saying in a thunderous voice: “Ave Imperium! Ave Oren! Ave Haense!”. At that, the beast shrieked out in pain, moving to-and-fro over its abysmal cavern, a flash of golden flame making its way up the creature. At the top, a Knight clad in Black and Purple rose and  raised his flame-engulfed blade before bringing it down on the creature with all his strength, before the creature came crashing into the nearest building and tossing the man into the rubble. 

 

Dr Saalih pulled the man out of the rubble and brought him back to the main force, setting him down to check his wounds. Upon further inspection, after the loss of blood and the gashes across his body, as well as the underlying infection that plagued his innards, Alexander managed to mumble out to Rylan. Rylan made his way down to Alexander, taking his hand with glistening eyes and holding on to his friend. “Rylan, watch over them, please.” “I will Alex, rest now, you’ve earned it” Alexander smiles, squeezing the hand and saying one last “thank you” to the pair as his life force leaves his body and he closes his eyes for the final time. Rylan squeezes the hand one last time, before letting go and saluting, before making his way back to the front with haste.”

Ascended to the Seven Skies after a long tenure in service to his People and his Empire.
