To all theater lovers of Oren –

They say that if you want something done right, you ought to do it yourself.

They also say that everyone wants to direct.

So, being the overachiever that I am, I ask -- why not do both at once?

Anyway, it is my intention to mount a production of my debut play, Lorin + Augustus. The Helvets family has graciously given me free reign to abuse their playhouse as I see fit and fill it with as much debauchery as my black little heart desires. I hope to make them thoroughly regret giving me that much power.

But there is no play without actors – and that is where you come in. I seek skilled actors to fill the roles of my two lead characters. This is not a play for amateurs. The roles are on stage for nearly the entire duration of the show, so I require individuals with a high degree of professionalism, commitment, and most of all – passion.  You will be living and breathing the roles of Lorin and Augustus for the entirety of rehearsal and staging. Talented actors will be compensated fairly for their time.

If you wish to be involved in the show but aren’t willing to commit such a great deal of time, there are minor roles for Flay soldiers as well.

Please find information about the roles below.

LORIN FLAY

Seeking a young woman between the ages of 16 and 25. Ideally a Kaedrini female with brown or auburn hair and blue eyes. However, women of all races and ages are invited to audition if they feel they possess a suitable skill.

Lorin is the protagonist of the drama – our beloved heroine. For this part, I desire an actress with a vibrant spirit and a spine of steel. Lorin finds herself in a bleak situation, locked in a dark tower room and denied access to her infant son. However, she handles her dreary circumstances with a quick wit and good humor.

Any actress who auditions for this role should possess a wide range of emotions in addition to a mastery over subtle sarcasm and comedic timing. Lorin is on stage for nearly the entire show, so endurance and patience are required.

Those wishing to audition for Lorin will be asked to recite a monologue of their choice from the text of the play.

AUGUSTUS FLAY

Seeking an older man between the ages of 45 and 70. Ideally a Heartlander male with grey hair and green eyes. However, as stated above, I am willing to entertain actors of any race or age provided that they possess the skill to act the role in a convincing and compelling manner.

Augustus is our deuteragonist as well as our villain. For this part, I require an actor possessing a fierce charisma and an indomitable force of will. Augustus must arrest the audience whenever he appears on stage – fascinating and terrifying in equal and undeniable measure. He helped build Godfrey’s empire atop a mountain of slain corpses and he demands an equal portion of the spoils.  He is all the vice of the early Imperium rolled into one foul, heartless, wicked man.

Augustus undergoes a subtle transformation over the course of the play. An actor wishing to play Augustus must simultaneously maintain his imposing and awe-inspiring outer demeanor while acknowledging the lesson in compassion he learns from his lady wife.

Those wishing to audition for Augustus will be asked to recite a monologue of their choice from the text of the play.

Should you have any interest in being part of this production, please contact Bianca La Fleur in Owynsburg for the opportunity to audition.

Signed,

Elizabeth Anne reads over the audition missive, a copy of the play in her other hand. She contemplates for some time, looking back and forth between the two documents.

“A masterpiece, this production is. Perhaps, this may be a wonderful opportunity – one few are afforded”

With that, the girl pens the Lady Bianca a neatly written letter.

Peridot Carrington muses over the audition flyer for a few moments. It had been ages since the man had acted himself, having been stuck on the backstage for the most part. “Perhaps...”

He pens a letter to the Playwright la Fleur.

Wilhelmina Helvets tussled with her ego for a time, contemplating trying a role on for size.

A tad crooked, she thought, auditioning for a woman I hired myself.

Nonetheless, upon urgings from her cousins and ladies, she drafted a letter to Madame La Fleur herself.

Louise Henrietta de Moutiers a young pale-skinned, amber eyed, and a brunette haired lady looked at the paper with interest.

As the young minor noblewoman stepped out from the boat, onto the port, from the Principality of Venerra in Aeldin.

She’d looked at the promotion of the play, going on to comment.

”How interesting, very interesting indeed! I must try out for this amazing play!” As Louise spoke she had a joyful tone and humble smile.

Then right after making this comment to herself, she’d call out for a carriage to Oywnsburg.
