[!] A letter would be posted on the message board in Brandybrook, addressed to the halflings that reside there.

”Dear Brandybrook,

Times are dire, I know. Demons are invading Arcas, and trust me when I say this threat is imminent. Your Elders and I are discussing our best course of action for the people, and you might not agree with what we decide. My friends, the land we live in is a place. A place I love, yes, but it is a place. My primary concern is the people, you. Knox forbid, but if demons enter Brandybrook, I will not leap to defend any burrow or shop. I will leap to defend my neighbors and friends. I am writing this letter to you to make one thing clear. In these dire times, I don’t give a flip about Brandybrook. As your Thain, my job is to protect you, halflings, my people.

As I write this, I can’t help but reminisce the time I’ve spent in Brandybrook. I came to this village, leaving my families self imposed isolation to understand what it meant to be a halfling. Entering the world, it was terrifying. I met elves, humans, dwarves, orcs, and more. No matter where I went, I was treated like a child, one that others could tell what to do. I appreciated being protected, but I couldn't help but feel pitied or controlled. After traveling some, I found my place in Brandybrook. I remember the first time I met Micah, the previous Thain, and the Thains task he gave me. He did not want me to be a busybody in Brandybrook. Instead, his task was to venture out to the Druids in search of friendship. That, to me, is what it means to be a halfling. We have persons of all nationality and race strolling into Brandybrook, free and happy. No weapons are allowed, and no evil intended magics are allowed, only peace. In the past, I have made the error of choosing sides. This is my fault as Thain, and I beg your forgiveness. From here on out, we choose no sides and every side. We are for the people, not a banner or race. We give shelter to an orc or dwarf,  just as readily as we give shelter to any halfling.

To me, to be a halfling is to be at peace. We eat and we drink and we get high as kites, and we have fun. We throw senseless parties because we want to, and we go on silly adventures to pass the time! We defend our home and our neighbors in their time of need, and we don’t take gob from anyone! I am proud to be your Thain. I am proud to be your leader, and I hope you trust me and my council to make the right decision for us going forward.

Thank you, my friends.

Thain Isalie Gardner”

Filibert Applefoot looks up from his newspaper, nodding.

”Oi do wish tha’ t’a Thain cared abou’ Brandehbrook AND t’a ‘alflin’s, bu’ carin’ abou’ jus’ one beh foine enough fer meh”

He’d sip some tea, lean against his chair by the fireplace, and go back to looking over his own work.

Nodded as the biggun read this aloud, setting his drink in the table, “We foight fer our home... an’ our ‘ome is our people.” He said in a serious tone, “Oi am wit’ yew til te end, Isalie.” He stood up abruptly, clad in his coat and grabbing his B.O.O.S.E. shovel. It is time to say goodbye.

Micah O’Connell would smile as he sat among Knox’s golden wheat fields above, “I knew I could count on yeh, Isalie.”

Mondy Applefoot read over the missive whilst mixing ingredients, as she stress-baked her third cookie batch of the day, “Oi’m vereh vereh worried... KNOX ‘ave merceh... OH!” A clatter sounded as the bowl she had been using fell to the ground, the contents poured over the wooden floorboard. She released a deep sigh.
