Throughout the Empire, another wave of mass produced images printed atop delicately decorated fliers are dispersed in public places. Posted on message boards, adhered to walls and poles, included in newspapers and displayed in storefronts; it would be hard to escape it’s image. Accompanying each one is an additional handout with the following message painstakingly copied.

In the onset of the Inferi incursion, it feels as though the sun that shines upon us all grows dim. The lands to the South suffer in the most unholy of ways, twisted and corrupted by demonic presence. All who stare into the face of the enemy are stricken with paralyzing fear; a sense of dread that evokes cowardice in even the most surprising of places. With each passing moment, the willing and able to fight shirk their duty against evil and succumb to complacent and selfish security. Who is left that is willing to fight such an indomitable foe?

Well, the Imperial State Army of course! Even as the demonic rift spills forth unimaginable horrors from the great beyond, your comrades in red fight on unphased! But it turns out, they are not alone in this endeavour. For even under the unholy shroud of darkness inflicted by the Inferi, a shining beacon of light cuts through it all. A source of comforting power, stalwart character, and unyielding courage. The Paladins of Xan do battle against the demons!

It is for their valor on the battlefield and their willingness to defy evil that the ISA salutes our plate clad comrades. I’m a fan of Xan, are you?

Lieutenant Viktoriya-Marie peered up at the poster, taking it between her armored hands as she read. ”Paladins . . . Are good folk. I owe my life to one,” Viktoriya hummed, gently pressing her offhand upon the bolt abrasion sitting atop her skin – directly between her eyes. After a moment, her usual mischievous grin would return to her features as she’d repeat the phrase, after a moment of contemplation – ”Xan’s our man!”

Sergeant Willem Galbraith would stride over to the flier ,  adjusting his hat , as he would scan the text “No matter how un-gentlemanly magic may be , When In war we must make compromises” He exclaimed as he would go to continue on his patrol of the Helena streets

Privateer Paco de Mantequilla drags his clubfoot to the de Denesle surgeon awaiting his peg leg prosthetic as a young boy passes out the overly done missive to him for him to read. He scoffs at it after one read and begins ranting to his 1st mate Gordito,

“Dios mio! Aengul worshippers are co opting the war on the Inferni demons to try and force their views on good traditional GOD fearing men. These heretics like to steal the glory like the Golden Lance took the credit for killing Setherien when it was actually the super soldier RICK FELDER who laid the final blow on the drakaar. Our country is doomed and I can only blame our maricon of an Emperor!”

Paco points his blicky crossbow at the young messenger boy passing out the missive and makes him run away.

Hours later Paco’s clubfoot is sawed off and replaced with a peg leg. He contemplates giving up a life of privateering to join the church and kill the aengul veneration before it gets further out of hand...

Ensign Helena reads the missive where it’s posted in the bastille. He provides a resolute nod. “Xan’s our man!” He confirms,  nodding in approval of the general’s words. “The ISA stands firm.”

From an unknown loaction.....

*Rick Felder reads word of this, remembering his days of war, his work with the Golden Lance, his successful campaign against the scourge.*

“These people have no idea what the Golden Lance was or who Xan truly is, the Xan I knew had one purpose and that was to hunt down remaining Drakaar from these strange realms, he may have succeeded, but where is my credit? I did probably the majority of the work. I rallied banners to my cause to push back Scourge incursions, fought Harbingers in hills, actually took the fight to the enemy. It seems like humanity has become what I feared. The dependency on expecting Xan to fly out of the sky and go on a brutal killing spree of demon, NO, that is not it. I was a major key to the research of the Golden Lance, I had discovered the gates to the Fringe which allowed us to evacuate Anthos, but Xan waiting only for himself to shine. Without me, Rick Felder, and my humble comrades of Saint Lucien and Oren, there wouldn’t have been victory over the forces of Setherien and the Scourge... I did what I had to do for humanity, I was the hero the world wanted, some may to this day might even call me a Saint. My time but it is should always be important to know the full history of humanity, and the men who created its foundation and build the path to today.”
