                                          Karl Blackroot

For generations my forefathers and I tried to understand the mysteries about a very peculiar Daemon and her relation to the divine Brathmordakin, the name of this being is Metztli. Metzli is said to be a moon deity of the Khas, a being that they claim created them. Her existence has been proven through the blessing she gives to the leader of the khas, a blessing that turns their fur white which implies the individual is her chosen messenger. So from the Kha’s understanding we can say that Metzli has the power of creation of beings and the power to change people’s appearance. Yet I do not believe that Metzli granted the Khas knowledge of self. So these are the main points we can analyse from her:

  • Related to the Moon
  • Is a Daemon
  • Relationship to Animals
  • Intelligent Animals

Addressing the first point works from my father Baldin suggested in the past that the Daemon must be in the moon as Khas center their worship around the moon and it seems that her power is manifested through the moon. This brings him to believe that despite not being a Brathmordakin she must have a relation with the Brathmordakin and Dungrimm in particular as the moon is his domain. This information gives us room for speculation as the truth is beyond our mortal knowledge at the moment. The relationship could be speculated in various ways, ranging from a holy servant of Dungrimm to wife or even daughter. The fact that historically she has been associated with Lapis Lazuli which implies that she might be more related to Armakak and Grimdugan, which would mean that either Dungrimm is also the father of the two Brathmordakin of wealth, or the husband of their sister or daughter.

The Third point mentioning that she has a relationship to animals seems like a useless point, However, that is not the case. Animals and the natural world are the sole competence of the Tribunal (Anbella-Dungrimm-Belka), particularly Anbella. This leads to the conclusion that they are aware she is acting in their domain. Meaning that Metzil is either an enemy that invades into her domain or a close friend. Because we know Metzli’s power is related to the moon we can assert with confidence that she is not an enemy of the Brathmordakin, as the moon is the Holiest place outside Yemekar’s forge and anvil.

In the fourth point we address the fact that Khas are more intelligent than any other known animal, and some are in fact smarter than some descendants. Because of this and the fact khas are able to understand and believe in the Brathmordakin as was the case with Tepah, we can assess that despite Metzli not being able to give them those abilities Yemekar probably did. Yemekar is the only known being that can grant a being the ability to understand the existence of the Brathmordakin. Hence, it is possible that granting the Khas this knowledge was a gift from Yemekar to Metzli. Through this logic I propose the idea that perhaps Metzil is infact a child of Dungrimm or his wife.

What we can conclude from this is that despite the Khas not being a holy race, or even a race of inferior versions of dwarves as the other descendants, we see that they are in fact a race of beings blessed with intellect and creativity by Yemekar. Knowing the discussed points could be a possibility I could say that killing a Kha, a race that is often blessed by their goddess, should not be a thing that dwarven society should generally accept. Some facts like her connection to fixing time in Kha religion is relevant but lacks actual evidence to be able to support the theory. I would suggest that there could be a possibility that the Kha race’s mythos might allow us if dissected and analysed properly to teach us more about the relationship of the divine Brathmordakin and the lesser Aeguls and Daemons like Wyrvun and Metzil.

Dwain reads and agrees. He writes “In the past, multiple kings and lords have shielded the Kha and their people in times of strife. Dwarves should always respect the Kha race and protect them when they can. The taking of their pelts is a grave injustice. As it is not as bad as a taking of a beard, their holy fur and or hair is of religious and personal self worth.”
