NotEvilAtAll 10906 Share Posted October 24, 2020 In which I churn out halfling related builds on my singleplayer superflat world until I’m pretty good at it. Today I experimented more with using sandstone as a wall material. I also deviated from my typical ceiling design and tried using some larger circular rooms. Burrow outline. Notice the two large rooms. Building up the walls. Completing the ceiling. I initially tried to do a weird pattern across all of the ceilings but it didn’t work out. Thus, for the final build it’s a lot more subdued. The entrance of the burrow. I’m debating moving the beetroots back a bit and having the flowers closer to the path instead. For this first room, I used a lot of brown blocks. This is a very brown room. It turns out that using a whole lot of brown works really well with the sandstone walls. A very ordinary and unimaginative kitchen design. Very short hallway with some cobwebs in the corner. The doors lead to two simple bedrooms. Not one, but TWO dining tables! I practically built a whole halfling cafeteria in this room. The symmetry works well, I think. Only thing that varies between the two halves of the room are the paintings. The outside of the burrow. I sorta just covered up the window with grass instead of trying to frame it with wood. It was too close to the pond to do anything fancy, so I just left it bare. Notes to self: -smooth sandstone and sand look great together -sandstone walls works well with a brownish interior -give yourself more space for windows so you can frame them properly -fancy ceiling designs don’t look good if they’re the fanciest part of the room -spruce works great for the uppermost parts of a ceiling because it looks like oak but with less lighting. You can hardly even tell exactly what wood the top of the ceiling is made out of (especially when using moody lighting) and it gives the place a lot of depth as a result
