JoanOfArc 4604 Share Posted March 16, 2021 Helena Written by Elenos of Helena A painting depicting four newly arrived Helenians observing the moon rise by Providence's coast. Helena, a city I never knew The crowned gem and jewel not long ago As beautiful as the bright silver moon But as distant from myself as it goes. Thinking that I shall not alone love you Forced me to flee from you to the far east However, you were worth much the ado For without you, I am truly deceased. How foolish I thought in this far off land Never grasping if this is God’s purpose That I may not have your favor or hand When that is all I wanted in earnest. While I found myself in this place anew Starting over with my father’s wisdom Providence is the converse point of view It is sun, but also scorching prison. God, save me from this eternal torment! Let me see once again the light of her’s For sun’s rays do not help me not lament As distance is a cruel saboteur. Crave me and want me, o glorious light! You that came quick and then left me so soon Compared to your beauty, all is a fright What is the yellow sun to my white moon?
bickando 3967 Share Posted March 16, 2021 Pretty Princess Helen reads through the poem by the warmth of a crackling Augustine fireplace, a tear coming to her eye. "A city I shall never know, a city that enraptured the hearts of so many; do men have that same strength in our modern era? Do the masses find my grandfather worthy of such worship? Do I find him so?" At this, a pause, her gaze turning to her guardian solemnly. "Might women ever find themselves the chief topic of such fable?" @libertyybelle
