On the Father and the Soul

Published on the Fourteenth of the Amber Cold, Year Fifteen of the Second Age

The Allfather, known to his faithful simply as the Father, is the deity to which the Norlandic people have dedicated their lives and souls. Upon the old continent of Thales it was He who rescued the struggling Norlandic people from a great blizzard by bestowing upon these people a flame which would provide them warmth, guide them when their torches could not, and allow Thoromir ‘the Herald’ to receive the Three Tenets of our Faith. This is why we Norlandic owe our very lives to Him, for if he had not sought to save us we simply would not exist. From this we can ascertain that the Father is merciful but not without cause as a connection, or a bond, between our ancient kin and the Father was formed so that they might follow His Tenets and teach their children to do so as well.

A natural question then comes to mind and that is why does the Father need followers to dedicate their lives and souls to Him? My conclusion is simple, the Creation which we dwell is at constant risk from external incursion evidence from the recent Voidal Tears and Inferi Wars of Arcas; this threat is ever-growing as more and more souls flow throughout Creation. The Father exists as a great bulwark against such incursions and as the threat grows the Father has found a need to call upon us Descendants to aid him. With our knowledge, strength, and cunning we Descendants act as a prime vessel to enact the Father’s will and protect all of Creation.

Our blessing, as Man, is to be sent into the Seven Skies to enjoy eternal paradise after we pass from the Mortal Realm, this is undeniable. Though what sort of beast would live so utterly purposelessly upon the Mortal Realm and afterward enjoy complete paradise? We know it is wasteful to dedicate the potential of a soul to such a hollow and meaningless cause. The Father offers us a greater path! For no purpose is greater than the eternal defense of Creation from the Dark, from its twisted yearning for total and utter corruption and subsequent annihilation of all known existence. The Father’s Halls rest as the Fortress standing on the frontier of existence and those who choose to dedicate themselves to him shall be stationed there, full of purpose and vigor they shall be the watchers and first line against the Darkness.

To conclude, in my personal struggle to understand more greatly the gifts and words bestowed upon our ancestors by the Father I have found the closest idea to an answer as possible: he saved our people so we may serve Him eternally in the afterlife, in the Father’s Halls. Our blessing as Men is quite well-known to most, a place in the Seven Skies for our souls to rest in death, but we shall not enjoy such peace for our duty is to him and the protection of all Creation; there is no greater gift than this.

The High Keeper read over the brief exposition, a small frown hidden behind her mask. "Well. He's not completely incorrect," She mumbled to herself.
