War Of The Roses

Introduction

Before King Georg and Queen Johanna dedicated themselves to restoring the Commonwealth of Sutica, many parts of the country as a whole were left completely neglected.

The County of Sarissa was an ideal example of said neglect. The majority of its buildings weathered, crumbling or caving in, its denizens left impoverished.
With new leadership in place, the county would slowly prosper once up- up until the construction of The Chapel of Saint Emma within the County's town of Brynrose. The more faithless town dwellers of the town saw this as a personal attack, fearing that God would be forced upon them. It started with rumors and verbal insults, then ended with brawls and broken bones. Any appeals to tear down the building of prayer were denied, leading to more anger and outrage from those resistant to change, who demanded Sutica be brought back into its former state.

One evening night Ser William Buckfort would be dining with his family; his loving wife, Arazo, who had just returned, his his many sons, daughters and grandchildren. Their dinner would be interrupted by an urgent knock on their castle's main entrance, and shortly after a Sarissan Guardsman let himself in. After being ushered to William's side, he leaned into the count's ear, whispering about unrest in the town square. After kissing his wife's cheek and muttering a soft "Be righ' back..." he rose to his feet, grasped his sheathed sword on the way out and rode straight to the nearby town of Brynrose...

Once there, he met with Baroness Eliza Raven and one of his older sons, Kapitan Oisin O'Breathnach Buckfort. Together, they viewed a gruesome sight; A Canonist Pilgrim visiting the chapel laid disemboweled at the foot of the religious building. Upon further examination, they discovered a bloodied note, a warning. "T'is cannae be..." Grumbled the count, turning to his son and the baroness, "Ensure our fightin' men are en good orda'...t'is cannae 'appen 'gain. We'll find t'leada's o' t'is rabble n' 'ave 'em 'anged."

And so, orders were dispatched for the men of Sarissa to muster against this domestic threat, with missives being sent out regarding recruitment for such. The numbers of the rebels and the whereabouts of their encampment are currently unknown, but skirmishes are to be expected at any time.

"Turns out mah tenure as Kapitan won't be uneventful as ah thought it'd be." Oisin O'Breathnach Buckfort muttered to himself as he stood guard at the gates of Brynrose, surveying the countryside.
