Are you Holy, Oren ? [IV]

Nothing had changed, so the man returned. Therein he stood before the palace of justice, and the song of hammer on nail echoed there with three notes of iron unto iron. There stood a third transcription, some letters made bold, and of darkest ink. His eyes lingered over the last of the bold passages, and he swallowed, and stared about him almost fearfully. There would be no refuge, even for him.

ARUS VOS SANCTUS, OREN

[3] Epistle to the Harrenites

Grace to you and peace from our Lord GOD the Most Merciful, Singular, and Omnipotent.

I am Owyn Son of Godwin, servant of the Lord, called to prophetic vocation in His service.

Verily, brother, the Lord GOD devised for us the metals of the earth, and the wine of the vineyard.

And verily he has granted the pleasures of the flesh and ordained the estates of all men, high and low.

But he has also spoken the Virtue, and commanded us to His word.

And you live only by His grace, and upon His earth.

The Lord is the Lord GOD without peer, but you fail in His Virtue, and NEGLECT THE GOOD OF GOD for what is forbidden.

And this is a sin of sightless pride, for what the Lord bids, He has thus bidden.

WHO SHALL ESCAPE HIS SIGHT?

All things live and perish before Him, and even the mountains are but shifting dunes in His eye.

WHAT INIQUITY SHALL YOU HIDE?

So I find you profess your worth but spurn His word, and there is no man worthy before Him.

FOR HE WHO REJECTS HOLINESS DOES REJECT THE LORD, and there is NO GOD BUT GOD, who is the GOD of Horen and of all things.

Though a thief may find refuge and the blasphemer speak softly, the Lord’s eye is cast over all sin.

TO REJECT HIM IN PRIVATE IS THE TRUEST REJECTION, THE LASTING CONDEMNATION.

Verily, brother, the Lord GOD is the wisest GOD, and he knows all things, in darkness, in light, in the din of the market, in the silence of the mind.

What judge is there but the all-seeing?

Who shall advocate against surety?

So to you sons of Harren I admonish: THERE IS NO REFUGE from the sight of GOD.

For He sees all things, and no sin is hidden before him, even in the farthest realm.
