PREAMBULO

Many years before the foundation of Arenisca, there existed a class of Hyspians that served at the will of the King of Hyspia and were elevated in status due to acts of bravery and honor. While never having a proper order established, the Knights of Hyspia were a respected and honorable class of Hyspian society which sought the betterment of the Kingdom of Hyspia. However, in recent years the Hyspian knights have faded into legend and are now nothing more than a bedtime story that Madres tell their children at night. Therefore, it is the wish of the ruling council of Arenisca to revive the honored order of Knighthood and to call upon all former Knights of Hyspia to come forthwith to Arenisca to offer advice and service in training the new generation of Areniscan Knights.

TRIALS OF KNIGHTHOOD

As is common among the knighthoods of the human realms, aspiring Knights of Arenisca must first engage in a series of trials in order to prove their devotion to the Knightly order. These trials shall consist of three main parts, and Squires shall be assigned a training Knight who will oversee the squire during these trials.

Prueba de navegación

Roughly translated into the Test of Navigation, this trial shall consist of a single Squire being sent out from the Barony of Arenisca to travel the realm of Almaris. Specifically, the Squire is expected to travel on foot to each major city without the help of horses or other magical means. In doing so, potential knights will have a better understanding of the wider world

To provide proof of their travels, a Squire is expected to provide Five souvenirs obtained from Five cities that they have visited. After doing so, they shall return to their teaching Knight and provide them with evidence of their travels.

Prueba de poder

Roughly translated into the Test of Power, this trial is meant to display the martial prowess of the Squire and determine if they are worthy of facing off against Arenisca’s most dangerous threats. This trial will consist of a Squire travelling to any other nation or settlement and challenging one of their warriors to an honor duel. This duel will not consist of slaying the other opponent and instead the duel shall go on until either the squire is defeated or the squire defeats their opponent.

Once defeating their opponent, the Squire shall take the weapon of his defeated foe as proof of his accomplishments. However, an honor duel may not take place with a non-consenting opponent, as forcing a duel with an unwilling foe is seen as dishonorable. Instead, the intended foe should be made well aware of the Squire’s intentions following the conclusion of the duel before the fight commences.

Prueba de Diplomacia

Roughly translated into the Test of Diplomacy, this trial consists of a squire accompanying the Baron of Arenisca himself on a diplomatic mission. There, their job is to record the happenings of said diplomatic meeting and to report it to their training Knight following the conclusion of the meeting.

THE OATH OF KNIGHTHOOD

Upon the conclusion of a Squire’s three trials, their training Knight will request an audience with the Baron of Arenisca. From there, the Baron shall question the squire on his trials. Once satisfied, the Baron shall have the Squire kneel before him and recite an oath.

I, _____, in the sight of DIOS, do pledge undying loyalty to the Barony of Arenisca and its noble council. I shall aid the Baron in his efforts for the betterment of Arenisca, I shall protect those who cannot protect themselves from harm, and I shall uphold my Honor with utmost importance so help me DIOS.”

Following the oath, the Squire will rise to his feet and be granted the title of Ser and, if lacking a surname, granted a moniker of their own. Once this is concluded, the Squire shall enter the service of the Barony as a full-fledged Knight of Arenisca.
