Axelu 4333 Share Posted April 17, 2022 PROGRESS OR HABIT To the denizens of Our Fractured Country, There exist several continuous stages throughout man’s history: war, loss, decimation, rebirth, and prosperity. These come one in succession to the other, often periodically and in times greatly spaced out. Lately, I have seen a hindrance to this process for natural progress; We are called again to war, so soon after we have ended another in which you, countrymen, have lost your Emperor and Empress, and I have lost my nephew and niece. I have understood their losses, however greatly they resound within my heart, to have been of profound necessity for we are now at a crossroads… In the wake of war we are left a divided country, angry at those who lead us, just as lost as your fellow people, and scared of what may be. Before you standing in the public eye are two princes, brothers, who assert, perhaps, an equal claim to the throne - one through traditional primogeniture, practiced by the great Johannian and Novellen Emperors for centuries, and the other through Renatian succession that my nephew, Philip III, once considered the most efficient succession procedure and, too, what was employed by the mighty Pertinax before their fall. I implore you all to pragmatically consider the state of our country, if you are still unsure on whether to take the leftmost road or to take the path that is right. Having observed the reigns of the first Novellen Emperors, then those of their male descendents succeeded all by right of primogeniture, I have been in intimate company to the Imperial Crown of Oren, even if the clerical vows I still value and uphold wholly to this day deterred me from assuming any responsibility to it. Peter Augustus, a darling Prince in his youth (although one I heard less of in the years to come), has affirmed his right to succeed on account of birth, as his predecessors before him did - the same predecessors, in their adherence to this traditional and continuous succession, whose reigns have also led to the aforementioned stages of war, loss, decimation, rebirth, and prosperity that seem to ne’er have an end. They have become sociopolitical habits. I do not assume to know what GOD’s divine will is - I am but a descendant and leal member of his flock, confirmed, married, and ordained in his church. There is something I can say with certainty, however: sin, too, is bred from habit. Just like any repentant entity, Oren is due to be redeemed from her grievous sins against her people and can only do so through an applied effort. Change is required, habits must be broken. Frederick Charles has lived among his people, away from the confines of the capital, fought and served his country and crown. He has ventured to find GOD, just as I did, as my husband did, and like my son and daughter did years ago. Through his merit and competence, he is a breath of fresh air that just might revitalize Oren for the generation that will succeed us. I know, with certainty, that his parents’, the Emperor’s and Empress’s, ambition for him was founded on truth. In a country that has undergone so much change, and lost so much in tandem to such, I ask only one question to you: Will you be a proponent of Progress or Habit? MRCHENN 4741 Share Posted April 17, 2022 "History will anoint the King Frederick as the man who dared. If the spear of ambition is what is required to preserve Orenia from the Peterist downfall of lethargy, then we will travel as the spear until it dare to no longer." Conrad applauds the effort by the author, framing it in his office.
