Al’masi - Late Teens

"Gladiator Era"

From a handful of Darkelf families that are Matriarchal, the nameless Al'masi, like most of the other men in his 'clan', were under the foot of leadership. Males in the Al'masi clan were relegated to manual labor, reproduction strictly controlled by the Hierarchs.

The Darkelf was bred with the same intention as his father, and his father before him; lumber and timber. Cutting down trees and preparing the wood for the builders. 'The Nameless', however, did not take to his lot in life like so many of the others. He took to physical confrontation with nearly every male that was larger than himself.

Rebellion was put down quickly by physical punishment, but for our angry young Darkelf, every whip strike drove him harder. Every punishment made him more bitter.

On the day of his 16th Cycle, when Al'masi males are given names, 'The Nameless', instead, brought the head of the clan's 'Hunting Party' leader to the celebration, throwing it at the feet of the Eldest Matriarch. In response, the Matriarch sentenced 'The Nameless' to have his 'black heart carved from his chest'. This punishment was reserved only for traitors, 'The Nameless' claiming he removed the man's head because, and I quote, "He was weak."

No other reason was given.

The morning of his execution came, 'The Nameless' bound by the wrists and ankles with rope, and the ceremony began. Successfully managing to open him up quite a bit, 'The Nameless' escaped the binds holding him, causing the onlookers to flee. Using a Matriarch as a shield, he managed to barely escape before leaving the Matriarch tied to a tree for the rest of the clan to find, alive.

It is rumored that the Al'masi Clan was in such upheaval afterwards that they scattered to the winds.

'The Nameless' was discovered by an elderly human male whose name he refuses to disclose. This human did the best he could to fix 'The Nameless' but some things were just beyond his skill.

Permanently scarred from his near-death experience, he woke in an even worse mood than when he'd left his clan.

He was hoping that he wouldn't wake.

He did, and his new-found hatred for nearly every living thing, including himself, brought on the next phase of his life.

'The Nameless' gave himself, as property, to a nearby arena manager. One 'Master Keller'. Keller kept a stable of gladiators and fighters he would use to win bets in matches, turning money hand-over-fist, and of all of his fighters, 'The Nameless' was the most brutal. Winning nearly every match he was in, the Al'masi had eventually earned enough for Master Keller that he could buy back his own freedom. Doing so, he began work as a Mercenary, taking coin for fighting other peoples' wars.

"How much are you going to charge me to pound on these weaklings? Wait ... you mean you're going to PAY me? Where do I sign up?"

---

'The Nameless' is not welcome or recognized as an elf, never truly being accepted by his own people, or the cousins to his people, the other Elven races.

He was never accepted, or welcome among the other sentient races, putting him in a position to constantly be pissed about this fact. As a man who believes himself to be living a war against the world, he is as liable to help you as he is to break your teeth out.
