Occasionally while reading about The Crothstad Woodlands, the reader may come across an old story about a group of hunters trapped under the heavily armored foe they had just slain. Despite the group’s best efforts, their weapons could not dent the large carapace that trapped them. It was then in their last moments that the armor of their foe was suddenly sliced open, effortlessly divided, and shredded so that they could push it off of themself. When looking for the hero who saved them, their eyes could just barely make out the distant form of Crothstad and his legendary sword, Trailblazer.

General Redlines

Spoiler

- Has the durability of bluesteel.
- Should Trailblazer become chipped or damaged, it will repair itself over [1] OOC day.

- For the purpose of this CArt, a creature is classified as a player-played CA or a non-descendant non-player character, such as a deer for example.

- Creatures who see Trailblazer will naturally feel an intense desire to stay away from the weapon. Should combat start, creatures who are capable of feeling fear would naturally become intimidated and fearful of the weapon.

Armor Shred [Combative]

Those who yield this sword may find themselves in hunts against heavily armored foes, just as Crothstad once was, and it is in these encounters where Trailblazer thrives. With the power of the runic inscriptions that litter the blade, the wielder is granted the ability to slice through natural armor as if it did not exist at all. This requires [2] emotes, wherein the wielder first runs their hand over the runic inscription, then over [1] emote, the runes and the edge of the blade will begin to glow with an intense orange aura. Upon reaching the final emote, the blade will now be ready to cut and cleave through natural armor for [6] emotes before the runes deactivate. Furthermore, when Trailblazer strikes the limb of a creature, that limb will feel an intense searing pain and will lose half its strength for [2] emotes.

Armor Shred Redlines

Spoiler

-  Armor Shred will not give a combative advantage when attacking other players unless OOC consent is given and it is considered a hunt. Attacking an Azdrazi you stumbled upon is not a hunt, but stalking and attacking an encampment of some creatures could be.
- Requires [2] emotes to activate, one to run your hand over the runes, and [1] for the runes to glow. It will last for [6] emotes before the runes deactivate.
- The blade will only cut through the natural armor of creatures easily, not armor that descendants wear.
- Armor will be twice as easy to cut through as it would normally be.
- Armor that is normally only receptive to blunt attacks may still be cut easily by the sword.

- A limb struck by Trailblazer will feel an intense searing pain and will lose half its strength for [2] emotes. An arm would not swing a sword as hard, and a leg struck would become more difficult to stand and run on, for example.

- Cannot be used to Darkspawn test players by seeing if they feel the searing pain.

Legacy Engraved [Combative, Passive]

In the rare circumstance that a creature attacked with Trailblazer lived, it would certainly only grow to fear the great Crothstad and the weapon that maimed it. It is through Legacy Engraved that this occurred, as creatures left with wounds from Trailblazer would suffer nightmares about their attackers, truly leaving a legacy of the hunt engraved within their memory.

Should a creature live an encounter where they were wounded by Trailblazer, they will begin to have nightmares about the blade and the attacker. These nightmares would oftentimes wake the creature up in the middle of the night or slowly creep into their thinking during periods of study or reminiscing, should the creatures be capable of such.

Legacy Engraved Redlines

Spoiler

- Requires no emotes to perform, as it is a passive ability.
- Only affects creatures, not descendants.
- Nightmares will last OOC days equal to the amount of wounds the creature has obtained. For example, if a Zar’ei was sliced twice with the blade and lived, it would have nightmares for [2] OOC days.
- The nightmares may occur whenever the creature wishes, such as only when they sleep, or during periods of intense thought.
- The nightmares will only occur if the creature lives the encounter.
- The nightmares will always focus on Trailblazer and the Hunter, or just Trailblazer. Even if the creature was attacked by a party of foes, only Trailblazer would become engrained in its memory.
- Players may continue to RP the nightmares longer than the OOC days if they wish.
- The only cure for the nightmares is for the OOC timer to expire.

- Does not require OOC consent.

The Hunt’s Calling [Passive]

Rumored to be the reason that Crothstad never left the woods, upon wielding one of his relics the user would find that their mind becomes drawn towards large and difficult hunts. Often those who yield multiple relics would feel their minds before more instinctual, acting as if they were an animal themselves, with each relic drawing their mind further towards the great hunt.

Like the legendary Crothstad who yielded this relic in the past, the holder’s mind will undergo a wild transformation that scales depending on how many relics they possess. Someone who holds one relic, for example, may simply feel the need to hunt for all their food, though someone who holds three may spend hours of their day within the forest. Should all six successfully be brought together, the owner may lose their mind to the thrill of the hunt entirely.

The Hunt's Calling Redlines

Spoiler

- Collecting one or two of the Crothstad Relics will cause the holder’s mind to be more inclined towards hunting. For example, they may feel the need to spend time out in nature or hunt for their own food.
- Collecting three or four Crothstad Relics will cause the owner to become more animalistic, oftentimes feeling a rush of intense adrenaline from hunting. They may operate more on instinct and may become upset if someone hunts on their land. The feelings that one feels towards the hunt are now akin to an orcish blood rush.

- Those with three or more artifacts will additionally become difficult to coordinate with and speak to, as their mind becomes obsessed with the hunt. They will no longer work well with others, and will not participate with other's plans.
- Collecting five Crothstad Relics will put the owner’s mind on the verge of becoming completely consumed by The Hunt. No longer would they willingly spend time in cities and eat food they did not hunt. The user will also feel heavily inclined to create shrines using animal bones, much as Crothstad himself did.
- Collecting all six Crothstad Relics will cause the owner to become completely lost in The Great Hunt, powerless to the desire to hunt larger and greater animals and creatures.
- The effects listed above are examples of what could occur at each tier, players are welcome to roleplay the effects more harshly or create new ones should they fit the theme.
- Even if stored away in a chest, the owner will still feel the effects of the relics as they call them towards The Hunt.
