SECTION IV: ETIQUETTE

Etiquette in the court is of the utmost importance; a courtier’s conduct in the presence of the royal family and nobility significantly influences the perception and representation of both the court, and the individual themselves. The Seneschal is responsible for teaching and managing these expectations.

However, while the Seneschal oversees the instruction of proper etiquette within the court, we advise all citizens to adhere to these fundamental rules to avoid embarrassment and maintain their standing in the court.

GENERAL ETIQUETTE

Citizens are expected to uphold deference towards their superiors within the royal family, always addressing them by their appropriate titles during conversation.

Citizens are expected to maintain a dignified comportment, particularly in demeanour and behaviour.

♔ Courtiers that are not members of the royal family are prohibited from wearing any type of diadem, crown, circlet or tiara. It is considered disrespectful for courtiers to overshadow the Royal’s attire, and such individuals will be asked to remove any attire that exceeds in splendour.

IN ROYAL PRESENCE

All must not touch the Prince or Princess Consort, or their immediate family (brothers, sisters, and children).

♔ All must stand with a countenance of utmost respect when either the Prince or Princess Consort enter within a room, until they are seated. Only after then may everyone else be seated.

♔ All must avoid turning their backs on the royal family, as it is seen as disrespectful.

♔ All must avoid the use of nicknames regarding or referring to the royal family outside of private settings unless otherwise permitted.

♔ All must curtsy or bow at the beginning and end of the conversation and address them by their title properly.

The young Prince of the Rhosmark looked to his sister as he read the missive, "I am excited to begin our work, dear sister!" @Amyy

Lord Evaristus Stassion of the House of Mortagne walks into the study where his cousins are busy writing a missive. The room is dimly lit by the soft glow of candles, casting flickering shadows on the stone walls. He bites into a crisp apple, the sound echoing slightly in the quiet room.

"What are my cousins up to?" Evaristus inquires with a curious smile, the apple crunching satisfyingly as he takes another bite. His presence adds a relaxed but attentive air to the room, as he casually strolls over to where his cousins are seated.

Maddalene looks up and hands him the freshly written missive. Evaristus takes it, his eyes scanning the parchment with a discerning gaze. "Looks good," he replies simply, nodding in approval.

With a casual flick of his wrist, he tosses the half-eaten apple out the open window, the fruit disappearing into the night. He turns back to his cousins, his expression thoughtful yet hopeful.  "Hopefully, we can fill these positions soon," he adds, his voice carrying a mix of determination and optimism. The weight of responsibility hangs lightly on his shoulders as he contemplates the importance of the missive. The candlelight dances in his eyes, reflecting the resolve and commitment he feels towards the duties and expectations of his noble house.
