As it seems my letters to you have been unable to reach your holy countenance, I once more endeavour to establish peace and communication between the Serene State of Lurin and the Canonist Church.

You asked for a repentence, and we have enabled as such in a manner that still remains true to our virtues of equality and tolerance. All religions, as long as they are of good moral standing, are welcome in Lurin. They always have been, but with the advent of the removal of the Eshtaelite church as official doctrine, this is now reinforced.

You use the word ‘True’ in regards to an inquisition, and a part of me must wonder if perhaps you are maybe confused by the use of the word ‘Eshtael’ within it. Simply a moniker utilised due to the previous state faith, now discarded alongside other Eshtaelite symbolism within the nation (post commission of a better coat of arms). With the advent of our new stance the newly renamed Lurinite Inquisition is and always has been headed by the faithful Canonist agents of the Barony of Salvo. Souls more devoted to the Church of the Canon you would struggle to find.

In that vein, your offer of your own inquisition agents aiding in the purging of darkspawn is a more than welcome one. Should you wish to aid us in our quest to remove the taint from our land, your people are more than welcome to advise and lend a hand to the local Inquisition in their actions, being given the full and same authority of the Serene State as any current member.

Eshtael is no longer state policy.

Your inquisition will find no bars to their efforts to destroy darkspawn.

You’re certainly more than welcome to hold baptisms in accordance with our new stance on faith.

Your requests have been met.

“Somehow, I doubt the Church’s ability to forgive, especially so with the leadership they’ve politically elected for themselves. They used to be good people, and oh how the mighty fall.”

An ever-aging older man comments by the comfort of a fireplace as he saw the missive,

“Good on the Lurinites. If I were to meet this Lubba though, I’d advise him not to trust the High Pontiff as far as he can throw him. There will be some other excuse for him to take your land and people, they will not stop. Conquest. It is all this boy knows.”

A prayer was said for Callahan’s soul after he spoke. He finished finally- his rantings unfortunately being overheard heard by none else than the fly on the wall.

"You have spared no time in disowning and delegalizing the supposed church of Esthael. Although the forgoing of the stately sanction of angel-worship is commendable, this first step for conciliation with the Faith is by no means satisfactory in fullness to the Covenants.

The repentance of which you speak is not one where the plurality of religions or moralities is agreeable, nor one where the absence of faith altogether is. The aforementioned Repentance, as befits all acts of penance, is firstly the absolute submission of one's spirit to The Lord. One must internalize the negligence of their ambition and see The Lord and His promise for the ultimate value they possess. It then naturally follows that for the grievances levied against The Holy Name, an intent remorsefulness for the sin is felt. Only then is it legitimate to propose the readiness to Penance; and then, if The Lord sees fit; forgiveness.

The arbitrary standard for the acceptance of religions of "good moral standing" is, in itself, faulty. Who is to say a druid is acceptable and a dark mage is not? Just because the Darkspawn are outspoken in their designs for destruction does not absolve any other heathens of an inclination for evil. A druid might find itself shoulder to shoulder with a Red Faith pagan and a horned-lizardman only because they all seek to destroy a darkspawn. But when the darkspawn is defeated, would it not be right for the druid to raise arms against the lizardman, and for the Red pagan to assail them both? They are all evil in their own rignt; the relation of their hostility for darkspawn is irrelevant. That one evil is fought but all others be embraced is no path to penance.

Only the embrace of Canonism, in its totality, is a ready means for redemption. The peddling of concessions in aesthetic symbols or phony-worship might work on hearts that see not past material. But what the Ministry of G-d seeks is the spirit, and the saving of the nation.

I pray earnestly for the righting of all wrongs, and the deliverance of all the virtuous in Lurin.
