A piece of paper is tacked to the messageboard of Cobblecroak, waving in the wind with sloppy handwriting on it.

---

Oi apologize fer bein' nosy, really, considerin' I've only just arrived, but wif what me mum told me about the great Halfling collective I was confused t'put it lightly when I entered Aevos expectin' a parade and instead ended up a' a funeral march. Nobody's 'ere, an' I'd like t' be caught up on why that is... 'eard the Musin moved out, an' we're not too much in with the dwarf folk anymore, an' quite a few a' the gnomefolk 're elsewhere too. An' just the fact a'the matter- can't walk around ootside without feelin' loike there's a ghost in th' streets.

What exactly 'appened 'ere in Cobblecroak? Where'd Dunwen go, where'd our allies go? 'F anyone can tell a lady what exactleh's been happenin' here, I'd appreciate 't a lot.

(An' if there's any way I can 'elp put the city... do we call ours cities?... ...well, put whatever this is 't rights, please let me know. I dunnae where everyone else's gone, but I'm gonna be here for a while, mark my words.)

Thank'yeh and sorry fer bein' annoyin' abou' it,

-Clover Mireburrow

In DEEP RED FONT, does the REX SKALVOR pen his reply:

Dear SHIREMAN,

Your UBUNTU-HOSTING home has been razed.

Much love,

SKALVOR, Waghtinka of Mauloch, Rex of LURAKISTAN

Spuds snatched up a copy as he writs his reply. The cracking of flaking green sugar crystals falling about him with each word being complete. His words read as follows;

“Well you are right. We musin did up and leave, we have different ideas and they disagree with how halflings live. Moved out and we are doing good. I won’t urge you into any action but do what you feel is right. Halflings are as still as mud right now is all you must know now. Wait for the mud to move or watch it just harden further.”

[!] The original message upon the board has been taken down. Not torn; the tacks holding it in place carefully pried up, the notepaper folded and lain upon the ground, tacks upon it as a paperweight.

Underneath where it once lay, a message has been scrawled, onto the wood of the board itself, a single word.

"Afraid."

Shuffling the responses in her hands Clover furrowed her brow, looking down at the missive on the floor. It was probably a questionable idea to put the question out to public, so she couldn't blame whoever did it... looking at the scrawled word on the board and what few answers she received.

"...is as mud, eh?" She chuckles grimly to herself. "...a'least th' records show Dunwen went on oor terms."

She takes the missive and removes it entirely. She'd put up something better later. Scrawled on top of the word written in bare wood-

ONE DAY WE WON'T HAVE TO BE

Afraid.

ANYMORE.
