OOC: Rank Identification

I just wanted to put forward an idea about a method of visually identifying an individuals rank, and see what y'all thought about it.

Basically, your rank (only people with authority to make decisions, whether that is militarily or politically) would be denoted by an identifying mark, such as a colored face paint/armband/etc. Different colors would signify different ranks, and would make things a bit easier visually for Orcs and outsiders if they had a readily identifiable mark.

Thoughts?

I like this idea. I actually made a Gorkil tabard. I think Thore is wearing it? Noah also has a skin wearing the Gorkil tabard.

Plus we have a handful of orcs with just "generic" skins. Stuff like this would encourage people to customize their skins.

Hmm I'll have to look for that next time I see him, I don't think I've noticed. I've done something similar, putting the Gorkil symbol on the chest/back of my character's outfit

I like the idea of facepaint, especially for different military ranks.

EDIT: Maybe clan tattoo on the back, and colored designs on the face for rank?

I like the idea of a clan tattoo. Clans are for life, right? Unless you get kicked out. If you get kicked out a clan, maybe they physically cut the tattoo off your skin. Now THAT'S orcish.

That would also be cool! It would be nice to also have something that would be visible with armor on hopefully, make it a bit easier to see who to follow in combat would help out a lot.

In the old army we had certain skins made for each ranks that we used them in combat to identify each other, but the problem was that many people did not like the skins and much rather use their old ones. And many of them didn't know how to customize skins so either they used a skinn they didnt like or they didn't use the army skins which lead to confusion for the people who did use them.

And I love the idea for clan tattoos and that they should be cut out if they betray the clan(now I need to make a symbol for the Lur clan))

See, Baisha? That's the tabard I made. There, in Thore's avatar.

@craotor I don't think it would be too much work just to add a colored identification mark, surely officers would be able to put a blue/red/orange w/e mark under their eyes, or something of the sort

@urara yea now i know what you're talking about! guess i need to tweak mine some

It would help new players too. They'd learn not to mouth off to people with red paint under their eyes, for example. :| I've had TOO many new orcs ignore my authority.

@Baisha Most high ranking know how to customize skins (I don't but who cares) but the new ones probably will be pissed if we tell them to change their skinns.I love the idea though I think having different marks for each rank is great I'm just worried that the stupid new orcs might just say "Screw this my skin is way beter" and just ignore what we did.But we can always kill the annoying new orcs.
