The Vassalage of Babblebrook: War Tax

To the Denizens of Babblebrook,

As many of you likely have heard, a war has begun at a scale grander than many of us have experienced in our lifetimes, and may ever experience again. 

The Grand Kingdom of Urguan, upon the 10th of The Amber Cold 2020, entered a treaty with the Holy Pontifical States, a pact of mutual defense in this time of need, as the tidings of war began to spread. 

These same dwarves of Urguan have protected us, serving as defenders, friends, and allies. For this, we owe them great thanks.

Grand King Ulfar Starbreaker has placed a one time war tax of leather for vassalages of Urguan for those not wishing to participate. One which, as of penning this, the clan Runeflower intends to cover for the few residents that remain within Babblebrook's walls. 

While no man can force you to fight, as most of our people are peaceful, hardworking individuals rather than soldiers, I come to you now with a request and a promise.

For those musin of Babblebrook, who feel confident with blade or bow, this serves as a call for action. Should you wish to join the fight, to aid in the protection of our home, this is your chance and your choice.  

And to those who are unwilling, worry not, for neither King nor Town would bear you ill will. We are not built to take blows as the descendant races do, but where our physical bearings falter, our wit and will serves us well. Any aid offered, even simple encouragement, is a boon for those who act to defend us. 

And finally, for the fearful, those survivors of the fall of Dunfarthing, or those who have seen too much in their lives. I promise you this, not as Prince, but as a friend.

I will not let us lose our home for a second time. 

Babblebrook will survive.
