SYMBOLOGY

The Bluefern Crest holds a total of six symbols, each with meaning that supports the Clan’s beliefs, values, and virtues. 

 

The holly berries represent eternal life, protection, and good luck.

 

Growing ferns symbolize new beginnings, growth, resilience, protection, and enduring power.

 

Red roses stand for love and passion.

 

The fox encapsulates the beliefs of adaptability, intelligence, and resilience.

 

The antlers of a deer lofted above the crest show 

 

A bright sun depicts life, light, warmth, power, hope, renewal and divinity.

 

 

HERALDRY

The use of azure on the coat of arms is symbolic to the main virtues of the Bluefern Clan, as well as a direct tie to the name. Its use of multiple shades represents the many values blue carries, while still being the same color to show their interconnectedness. The blue represents honor, truth, loyalty, vigilance, and most important to the Bluefern Clan; hope and perseverance.

 

The gold border to the Clan coat of arms is yet another show of the beliefs of the Bluefern clan, representing generosity, wisdom, and illumination as those in the clan always keep themselves open to new experiences, perspectives, and knowledge.

 

 

THE EIGHT PRINCIPLES

BLOOD HOLDS NO POWER OVER LOVE

Who you call family does not lie within a biological connection, but within a connection between your heart and someone else. Family extends beyond the immediate, and includes friends and other important people in your life.

 

THE FUTURE LIVES WITHIN THE EYES OF OUR CHILDREN

We will only live so long, so it is important to teach our values to the children, so they can continue to spread the kindness we have taught to them. Guide them right.

 

YOUR WORDS ARE A WEAPON THAT MUST BE TRAINED TO USE

Just as a killing blow can cause a war, so too can a sentence. Learn to speak respectfully and kindly, but also learn when harsher words are needed, and that the truth will always serve as an honest, reliable weapon against the wicked.

 

RAGE IS AS DANGEROUS AS FIRE, AND CONSUMES TWICE AS MUCH

While emotions are important to feel, rage, hatred, and anger can cause massive damage if left unchecked and not treated with proper care. Do not fight fire with fire, either.

 

THERE IS ALWAYS MORE TO LEARN

Whether you be a scholar or a warrior, never stop learning more. Knowledge is a pillar of the clan, and you should never close your mind or stop learning new information or perspectives.

 

ALWAYS OFFER A HAND BEFORE STRIKING WITH A FIST

Any warrior can strike an opponent, but the strongest can offer help. Sometimes a threat can be neutralized with kindness, a warrior who’s first choice is violence in all scenarios is nothing more than the blade he wields.

 

KINDNESS IS A LIGHT TO BE SPREAD, BUT BE WARY OF THOSE WHO 

Be kind, not gullible. Be aware that there are people in the world who will take your kindness for granted, and do not let them. 

 

THE STRONGEST OF WARRIORS CAN BE THE WEAKEST IF THEY CANNOT CONTROL THEMSELVES

While it is important to let yourself feel your own emotions, and let them run their course, do not let them control you. Have discipline and learn to manage how you outwardly express your emotions.
