Spellblades 754 Share Posted April 1, 2025 "Since I was a boy, I've learned about many kinds of monsters, monsters that lurk in the shadows stealing all that they can in hopes of uplifting their status. Monsters that eat the flesh of their kin in some kind of crazed frenzy. And worst of all, monsters that tear families apart." Warrin awoke in the middle of the night covered in a cold sweat, he got out of bed looking to calm himself. As he got dressed, stepped out of his house, and walked down the once lively streets of Balian, he could only think about one thing. The ongoing war across the world of Aevos, he was there the night that they were all at Lemon Hill listening to the discussion about the King of Haense and the allegations against the previous King as well. He could tell trouble was brewing in that cramped room as he fidgeted with a trinket he was meaning to give to his daughter the day before but never got around to doing so. As Warrin finally stopped thinking about the events that had happened, he walked over to the Tavern in the Square, sitting down at one of the corner tables as he usually did. Before he could pull out the book he was planning on reading, he heard running and distant yelling. He ran to go see what was going on. Putting on parts of his armor that he kept in his bag as he ran, he saw 2 of his closest friends and comrades, Johanna and Aurellius, leading civilians out of the city. he didn't have time to ask questions; he jumped into action, helping civilians get to safety as well and as the last one of the citizens got into boats he decided to go with them. They rowed to an island far away from the main city. When they all arrived, Warrin helped Aurellius lead people down newly installed roads. It seemed like days on the island, though it was only a few hours. He prayed that nobody else was still in the city along with Johanna, who had stayed behind. After a while, it seemed safe to come back. and as Warrin finally took off his armor, putting it back in the regiment hall barracks and walked around to assess the damage, he saw broken windows and some things stolen from houses or businesses. Warrin vowed that night that he would never forgive the Monsters called the Holy League.
