The Nomadri [Culture]

THE history of the Nomadri people is an eclectic one, for their past and their future alike is versed in nomadic tendencies. A people who prides themselves on their word and their work, they’ve spent years traveling the realm in which they would stay in another’s territory. The Nomadri, though, they do not wish to take but instead to provide. Their stay often marked with provided festivities, trade and the like, so long as their Host treat them right.

 

Hailing originally from what is referred to as the Eri, the Nomadri would travel across vassals and nations alike, providing for the hospitality granted to them. It is only in the year 232 S.A that their caravan and people move from the Eri and to Aevos.

 

 

THE NOMADRI

 

THE Nomadri, or informally some may call themselves ‘Rovers’, are a nomadic people who’s very life is hospitality and adaptation. Each place the caravan comes to stay at leaves its mark upon the Nomadri people, aspects of their culture and ways being taken on, to assure progress always.

 

 

Due to their lifestyle, appearances and clothing range wildly - from those born into the caravan and those who joined their way of life alike. Despite their chameleon tendencies, there are some traditions of which the Nomadri upkeep overall, denoting the very basis of who they are.

 

Upon birth, it is common for the parents to seek out the Host or an individual of the lands the caravan are currently living on, to learn the naming conventions of the place. From there, a Nomadri child is given a name based on such - followed by the name of their parents, i.e. Wilhelmina of Renise, Harald of Joseph.

 

As the child grows older, they learn naturally alongside the caravan but will often be taught skills of which their parents have learned from their own travels. It is these skills that will be used for trade and barter, or so they may learn another.

 

Marriage for a Nomadri is a unique affair, no one wedding the same as the other. The traditions of the place they are staying at are taken in hand, alongside the Promise. The Promise is a tradition in which the spouses make promises to one another, a form of contract, that may never be broken on pain of dishonor.

 

 

With their recent travels, the Nomadri have begun to walk amongst the roads of Aevos seeking a Host of which may show them the hospitality of new lands.

This is short, sweet and to the point. Javert and I came up with this as a project, it being based around something similar to mercenaries, but if they were nomadic tradesmen/skilled people with an honor system. The culture entirely grows from natural RP, and it’s meant entirely for fun, to mess around some and to provide something to the varying communities on LOTC!
