À NOS HONORABLES CITOYENS

TRANSCRIPTS OF THE DEBATES

Guillaume Auclair : "Then we'll do it here. While we wait on a few more to come. Let's get started on introductions. Candidates please state your name and the position you are running for, for the record."

Sir Silas Hart Stafyr: "Sir Silas Hart Sturm Stafyr, running for a seat of Garmont."

Elvar Shadebloom: "I am Elvar Shadebloom and I am running for the position of Lady-Mayor of Vallagne.”

Godmar Karl von Augusten: "Godmar von Augusten for the Garmont."

Viola Auclair: "Valeria Viola Auclair, running for lady mayor of Vallagne."

G.A: "Let us start with the first question, as an elected representative, what are the current issues you believe Petra is facing, and how will you address them?"

Elvar Shadebloom: "I have noticed that the attacks of Darkspawn have been on the rise, and most of those are even within the city. This is unacceptable, but what is even more so is how many of ours get injured after those attacks. My solution for this is to start to train our civilian population how to act in cases of emergency, not to fight but to minimize bystander casualties."

Viola Auclair: "From my point of view, the issues might come from less support for our culture, raising and having the young generation learn...as I always think they are the base of the nation's future. And the support of local artisans."

Sir Silas Hart Stafyr: "I think Petra is currently dealing with an influx of unsavory folk, predominatly darkspawn and the invaders that have been pestering our lands. I would aim to better the training of our soldiers as well as provide some self defense training for our citizens to be able to take care of themselves as well. Not only that but I wish to help preserve what wildlife we have in the area so that the people of petra can enjoy nature's bounty without fear of it vanishing from over harvest. Ultimately my concerns pertain to our natural resources and the defense of our people."

Godmar Karl von Augusten: "Zhe Petrans have suffered a great loss, our independence! Two of our Houses have decided to forsake zhe Petran people to join other Kingdoms, like mein Brudir Konstantin. Zhe Petran spirit has to be reinvigorated- our children need to be reminded of unsere Kultur and learn what it means to be ein Petran!"

“Also! To protect Petran assets I wish to introduce ein bill zhat will prevent Agrippa Auclair from breaking valuable furniture and property of the state!”

G.A: "My next question, what insitution, or law do you think is in need of most reform. And how would you propose to reform it?"

Godmar Karl von Augusten: "The Swords of Saint Emma. Ich propose ein restructuring of zhe ranks for more efficiency and rewards for new recruits, as well as an increase of recruitment both within and outside the Realm."

Candidate Clarice Auclair arrives late.

Clarice Auclair: "I am Clarice Auclair, running for a Garmont Seat. It is my pleasure to be here but to keep it in simple terms, I believe our laws on cursed children should be changed, though their lineage they may be dark but they are not at crime because of how they simply look, I believe it would be better to simply allow for licensing which will allow these who bear the weight of the sins that were forced unto them to enter all these cities."

Viola Auclair: "I don't think there is much to restructure, I would start a new institution for learning and children, as I said, as well for the remake of the Medical Society."

Elvar Shadebloom: "I do think the current state of the Library here in city is unacceptable and honestly an bad joke, we need to fix this for the library is the foremost source of knowledge, and - that is by giving them more funding to obtain a better variety of books."

Sir Silas Hart Stafyr: "I think there should be a higher expectation of conduct around children. I've recieved disturbing reports of cursed children being mistreated within our city and I think it is unbecoming of our people to act in such a manner towards children. I think reinforcment of chivalry is in order in this regard."

G.A: Final question, before I will leave the floor open to questions from the audience. What is your stance on the influence of the Church in matters of law and governance? Should the clergy hold a voice equal to that of our councils?

Viola Auclair: "I'm personally from a family of priests, but I always thought that their job is to care for the faith and of the faithfull. Not to involve themself in politics."

Elvar Shadebloom: "As long as the clergy in question is actively living in Petra they should have the same amount of voice as everyone else. I don't see why not, for its only proper that every institution has an equal representation."

Sir Silas Hart Stafyr:  "I believe church and state should be kept seperate. While yes the laws and teachings of the church influence our daily actions, we should consider what happens when one voice over powers all others due to their authority. I believe the clergy may give their opinion to our councils but it is up to each person to follow God's teachings. How they use that knowledge to govern is their business."

Godmar Karl von Augusten: “Zhe church has nicht sent many priests to our parish in many years. Zhey do nicht know our culture and customs, zhey do nicht know what makes us Petra. We are all Brüdern und Schwestern under the Holy Church, praised be Godan, but as in other Realms they should administer to zhe pious flock of Petra and nicht get lost in Petran politics and administration."

Clarice Auclair:  "I believe it's what was needed for a while, as the church brings power, and thus order with its ranks the influence of the chruch on Petra thus far has had little to no negtive influence on the state as a whole externally. That is to add the fact they protect us from the wicked, of darkspawn."

G.A: "The floor is now open to questions from the audience."

The goblin approaches.

Bon'Ox: "I wish to ask a more practical question. Not one you can answer with 'oh this or that is a problem'. A great problem within Garmont is people being comfortable. THUS! What sort of BILL will you be presenting to the Garmont? If you do not have an answer, you might as well drop out."

Clarice Auclair:  "I wish to add more laws that will specify further what is the state of magic within our beautiful nation, and more specific laus on the treatment of cursed children and psudo cursed children."

Godmar Karl von Augusten: "Like Ich said- one would be an advisory bill for zhe restructuring of the Swords and ein second one would be zhe Protection of State and Property Bill, in regards to the destruction left behind in the path of Agrippa Auclair."

Elvar Shadebloom: "Well as I said the readines bill for we are currently living in uncertain times and in matter of emergencies we must be able to work as one or we shall fall divided."

Sir Silas Hart Stafyr: "A bill I would wish to present is a manditory training course for citizens to undertake to be able to I'd darkspawn and other threats correctly so they can act accordingly, which would of course lead to a beginniners self defense course."

Bon'Ox: "Take him into garmont, perhaps my dream of mandatory military

Viola Auclair:"I think I already said, my care and thoughts are on the future generation, learning… It's always been a base to make a great nation."

G.A: "Any other questions from the audience for the candidates?"

Sir Thomas von Theonus: "Ich have ein question but for a specific candidate"

G.A: "Please go ahead."

Sir Thomas von Theonus: "Well, Ich said one candidate but after hearing zhe answers das might be for two. First is for candidate Hart. When du say ein mandatory training course. How would zhat be und vould zhere be ein age requirement."

Clarice Auclair: "Mandatory military service will probably cause civil unrest."

Sir Silas Hart Stafyr:  "A fair question. I think due to past events children of 8 and under should at bare minimum know how to ring the town bell or safe places they can go when danger is about. There have been far too many cases of children being hurt due to being unable to properly hide or ring the bell. It isn't military service persay that I am suggesting. I am suggesting giving our people the tools and ability to be able to defend themselves if for some reason a soldier or knight is not present. I would encourage the course to cover how to properly dodge attacks, block attacks, and use what items around yourself for self defense as not everyone has a weapon."

The debates are closed with no further questions, Godmar yells for people to vote for him.

Reading over a copy of the transcript that had managed to make its way over to popo-Bukket's abode, Gummy's ears drooped as she read over the statements she'd missed out on in person, though one stood out amongst the others that felt akin to an arrow piercing her goblinoid heart with the statement.

"Iz.. Gummy nub hozh enuff....?" She chittered in a wilted tone to herself, reading the statement about the local library in question. She had worked hard to begin stocking the shelves when she could with everything occurring, including those she'd had supposedly working with her to build the collection.

...Did someone sabotage her work while the gobliness was away? The seed of doubt had grown within the fear that already marinated within her soul.
