Order of the Black Rose

There is beauty in that which withers

 

 

Forged through the flames of the abyss, this knightly order stands not blinded by that of the light.

 

Composed of those that wish to embrace undeath and its boons, the order offers sanctuary and a chance at ascension beyond mortality.

For the duty is eternal.

 

 

 

 

Purpose of the order

 

The primary reason behind the order's creation is to battle the lies of the light which

blind many a descendant.

To free those shackled by the gods, to save the souls of the innocent which do not understand the fate which awaits them upon death.

So that they may be not devoured by their so-called ‘’gods’’ and instead become free in undeath to instead become masters of their own destiny.

Yet, fighting the god-blight is not the only purpose.
For even in its undead nature, the order aims to protect those which may not protect themselves. While only fighting those which desire for combat, for there is no honor, nor strength to be found within slaying those which may not fight back.

 

Possessing an emphasis on a code of honor within its ranks which values combative prowess and remaining bound with honor even in death.

 

 

 

As an additional purpose, the order is ready to try and study deeper into the matters of what commonly would be considered the dark arts or to be forbidden.

That means that shall you be a scholar, a place for yourself might be found within our ranks as well.

For to harness the full potential of that which lies in the shadow and ascend beyond the grasp of the divine, one must not limit themself to just blade and shield.

 

 

 

 

The knightly council

 

 

Composed of knights of the order, that being ascended darkstalkers, this is the

governing body of the unholy order.

 

Each ‘’knight’’ which seats upon the council being equal to one another,

for in death’s eyes all are equals.

 

Whenever a matter of importance arises for the order, the council gathers

to make a decision upon the matter. 

 

Order Structure

 

 

Seeker

Mortals wishing to become ghouls, not yet ascended yet allied to the order.

Searching for freedom away from the blinding light.

 

Ascended only upon their request, for none shall serve unwillingly.
The darkness frees, not binds.

Initiate

Newly turned ghouls which are welcomed into the order due to being ascended by a Paramount which had chosen them, or by an allied necromancer which seeks to aid

in bolstering the order's numbers.

Footman

Ghouls which had passed their initial trials and proven their worth.

Becoming fully fledged members of the order as they are welcomed into their new lives of undeath.

 

Man At Arms

Elder Ghouls which have distinguished themselves amongst the others,

rewarded for their faithful service within the order.

 

Sergeant

 

Ghoul commanders which had proven to possess exceptional skill and tactical capabilities.

Possessing the permission to lead other ghouls in the absence of, or after the death of a knight.

Squire

 

Sergeant ghoul which had been taken in by a knight as a squire to be trained

and prepared for ascension.

 

Those ghouls having been picked for ascension when proven worthy, requiring the passing of knightly trials decided upon by the council to be allowed to become a knight themselves.

 

Knight of the black rose

 

Darkstalkers which had been ascended into knighthood. Equal amongst one another and having gotten a voice upon the workings of the order.

Yet to finish their ascension however.

 

From this point on the member is granted a voice within the council of the order.

Working as part of the governing body.
 

Paramount

Knights of the order which had managed to finish their ascension and reach the rank of Paramount.

Those are the Members which had officially finished their journey through undeath.

Becoming at last capable of bringing new seekers into the order as their ghouls, free to do so as they please yet becoming responsible for the newly forged members.

Lady of the black rose

As of the current title belonging to Urzul, the de facto leader of the order, which however possesses the same voting power as any other knight. Working only as a tiebreaker should there be a need for one.
 

 

 

Code

Do not strike the helpless. For such means weakness.

 

Do not kneel to gods. For you are your own master.

 

Bear your undeath with honor, not shame. 

 

Defend the innocent, if they do not bear arms against you. 

The darkness is made to shelter, not harm.

 

Let death be chosen—not forced.

 

Keep your honor, for it is what keeps you alive in death.

To lose such, is to lose oneself.

 

 

Enlistment

 

Shall you be interested in joining the order in the freedom of undeath, simply reach out to Urzul.

Do not be afraid to seek the boons of darkness which shelters one from the burning light.

 

 

 

Oath of the undeath

Once more reborn, I stand again.
As blade and shield joint in one.
And so I swear upon that which I hold dear.

To keep my honor so that I may persevere even in death.

To march through the valleys, hills and forests of the lands so that I may fight the burning light.

To remain loyal upon the cause of undeath and the order.
 

To keep my soul pure from the influence of the divine which seeks to do none else then devour.

To not fight those powerless and weak for that only brings weakness.

And so, for eternity I shall stand, to bring clarity of the night to those blinded by the light.

A small undead stared at the post.. they then turned to Urzul   " So where do I fall? Surely I am a Sergeant" only for then all their dreams and hopes to be crushed as they were told they where lowest they could be. The little undead shall not forget. they will get revenge!

 

 

Velia on the other hand reading the massive... Would blink.. she then held it up to someone.. " Really..? your doing this? " She questioned.. she then sighed. Continuing their conversation

Good job, Urzul. You’ve strengthened the Black Rose and led your undead knights with steady hands. Even in death, they stand loyal by your side.......

 

 

I do not claim her seat. She is the Lady, and the Black Rose is hers to guide. But I am the King in Undeath, and my will reaches beyond her halls, into the grave and the world beyond it. Where her knights march, my shadow follows......

 

 

To the faithful within the Order........ , know that this alliance does not shackle you - it frees you. The power I wield is not to command, but to strengthen. The enemies you face are enemies I will unmake.

 

 

And to those who kneel to the Light - look upon what you fear most. A deathless Order of knights who do not fall. You cannot outlast us. You cannot starve us. You cannot kill what will not die.

 

 

The Lady leads the Rose. 

 

The King rules the Dead.

And together… we will see the false dawn extinguished.......

The lich scratches out  the messy note-half wilted roses, half angry skulls-and somehow "Good job, Urzul" is the clearest part.

He sighs, knocks over a bone cup, and mutters, "Still better than those other lazy undead."
