[!] A new cult has entered the lands of Aevos. One may hear it from the passing swamps, maybe from a toad you’d thought to speak to, or from a worn missive that looked well aged.

“To hear the croaks of oblivion, when a thousand frogs became silent in an instant... All thought the swamps would not sing again. Until one day, the symphony rose once more in joy.” - Wonkus the Wonk

And such, something was founded from the voices.

The Cult of Wonk

Wonkus: Spirit of Wonkohol
Lesser of Betharuz and Laklul

The structure of the cult is a simple one: being only recently formed, it has only five types of folk.

The Wonk Brewers

Instead of having a singular Wonk lord, the wonk brewers offer guides to the ways of wonk and handle the more dangerous or careful crafts of wonk-related trinkets and items. Usually, they need to rely on Toad Foragers and such to craft their brews. Most of their time is spent brewing the fabled Wonkohol, a powerful psychedelic brew that is nicknamed liquid thunderwonk.’”

Toad Guards

Tribalistic in nature, those more combatively able in the cult act as the guard forces of the tribe. They are no mercenary group, and are strictly protectors of the Wonk cult and its brewers. Oftentimes, such guards are also doubled as the hunters and explorers of the group, to not only gather food, but to discover new toads and offerings for the cult. It is rumored that such guards use giant wonks as mounts, but such rumors are not confirmed.

Croak Priests

A lower form of Wonk brewer, whilst well-versed in the arts of brew, they are not permitted to create Wonkohol until they pass their own sacred trials. They serve as the bulk of the “priests” for the cult, their duties driven by a simple desire to spread the faith passively. They host most of the basic ceremonies, and like Toad Guards, double as scouts and explorers, seeking new lands and opportunities to spread the Cult of Wonk.

Toad Foragers

Once initiates of the cult have become accustomed to the ways of the wonk, they take on more advanced duties as gatherers, merchants, and scavengers.  In this role, they collect items to be used for ceremonial rights, as well as the sacred ingredients of Wonkohol. They act as the primary standard cultist or citizen of the community, and constantly find themselves busy.

Wonklings

New initiates of the cult of wonks, wonklings act as assistants to the other wonk cultists. They have no true task outside of such, but usually act as cultivators of toads and mushrooms, or sometimes even as farmers or fishermen.

To respect the Wonk

The culture of the cult is in its infancy, following simple rules of venerating the spirit of Wonkus and wonks alike.  They have a relaxed culture of enjoying brews and a peaceful lifestyle. Those of the cult consider Wonks as sacred beasts, be they used in crafting or as pets. Much of the cult handles a wonk-themed lifestyle of relaxation yet hard work. They only show hostilities to those that wish to break their state of peace. As the cult is still new to the world of Aos, it is still branching out and growing beyond its simple nature. It is a relaxed faith, and does not require its tenants to renounce other gods – instead, they must simply respect the will of Wonkus and enjoy the bounties that come with that respect!

Spoiler

Message Iros2473 if you are interested about the cult, this is a small little side project that I'm curious to see how it will develop. Thank @Aesopian for the inspiration! Have a wonk day!
